This paper represents Koha as one of the first ILSs developed as open source software and has been continuously developed by a growing community of developers across the globe. This can be useful from small libraries to large libraries. This paper includes issues and affairs related to implementation, budget, working on different modules of Koha such as Administration, Acquisition, circulation, cataloguing, serials, Patrons, Tools, and Reports etc. With successful execution of the Survey on Koha Usage in India, it recommends KOHA as most worthwhile open source library software which shall be useful in developing an integrated library system for academic libraries.

The main objective of this paper is to justify the need for Nigerian libraries which have not automated their functions to adopt of Koha ILMS as their automation software. The paper therefore examined the need for automation, the reasons for the choice of Koha ILMS and potential benefits accruable to the libraries, and functions that Koha can facilitate their perform in their libraries. The paper identified the need for automation to include need to handle information explosion, for effective management of library operations, to improve operation speed, resource sharing etc; the choice of Koha was informed by its features and benefits which include Koha in Nigeria libraries could be linked to its powerful features which include MARC 21 compatibility, Z39.50 search, Customizability to suit individual library needs and taste, sustainability etc; the paper identified the library operations facilitated by Koha to include acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, patron management, OPAC etc. the paper however highlighted data migration and lack of skilled manpower as limitations to Koha adoption. The paper therefore recommends that a committee should be constituted to oversee the automation project. As part of feasibility study, the committee should visit libraries where Koha is in use for on the spot assessment. Management should make the requirements for installation available, while staff training should be conducted in-house. in addition, libraries in Nigeria utilizing Koha should come together to form a network of libraries to facilitate resource sharing.

The study presents the status of implementation of Open Source Library Management Software Koha in Institute of Leadership Entrepreneurship and Development (iLEAD), Kolkata. This paper discusses the need for open source library management software. It focuses on the process of designing a bibliographic database of iLEAD library from the experiences gained during the implementation of Koha. It may be concluded that for a small library like iLEAD, Koha is also very useful package.

Abstract: This paper discusses about the concept of Web –OPAC in special regards of KOHA Web-OPAC at the Indian Institute of science Education and Research Bhopal (IISERB) and highlights, various special features of Koha Web-OPAC Library automation software and points out advantages of this online catalogue. Discusses aspects related to the use of software by the library. This paper provide brief description of various search option (simple and advance search), user account facilities provided by the KOHA Web-OPAC.

DOI: 10.1108/00330331011064276 ABSTRACT Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to describe the further development of the Koha 3.0 library management system (LMS) and the involvement of external software consultants at the Complementary and Alternative Medicine Library and Information Service (CAMLIS), Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital. Design/methodology/approach – The paper takes the form of a report based on internal documentation. Findings – Since its implementation in winter 2007/8 Koha has grown into an LMS that supports the wide-ranging needs of a busy and fast-growing specialist library. CAMLIS had Koha modules modified and added to meet its needs flexibly, using simultaneously both UK-based consultancy firms with Koha expertise. Originality/value – This is among the first implementations of Koha in the UK. Experience and conclusions from this installation might influence decisions at other libraries.
