Education is important for every individual living on this earth, but it is more significant for women. Education of women plays a crucial role in realizing their energy and creativity and enabling them to meet the complex challenges of the present world. In acknowledging them as potential human resources, investment must be made in developing their capacity in terms of education, skill, development, and technology transfers through technical training. we have chosen to focus particularly on women , because in every society who struggle along the lines of gender which limit the resources and opportunities for improvement , and we know that empowering women is a huge resource for social change and the broader fight against the global poverty. Our goal is to cause policy, institutional and individual changes that will improve the lives of women and girls everywhere. The educational system needs to be made more accessible to women at grass root levels and they need to be revamped to include gender sensitive educational system which prevents sex stereotyping and discrimination.
The dominant thought as well as the dominant social stratification make an inequality and promote inequality. Gender equality is global challenging concept. In this article, we try to summarize certain aspects like, the conceptual part like feministic approach towards gender equality, our cultural dimensions, Gandhian philosophy and finally the modern approach towards gender equality.

Although most women are now working outside the home, gender equity in the labor force has not been achieved. Women are still concentrated in low-paying, traditionally female-dominated occupations (such as clerical and retail sales), while most jobs in the higher paying, more prestigious professions are held by men. Despite attempts to reduce discrimination in the workforce, the occupational structure seems unlikely to undergo any substantial change. The continued segregation and underutilization of women in the workforce can have serious consequences in terms of women's psychological and physical well-being; it also has direct economic and income-related implications for women. A large wage gap between men and women still exists, and female-headed households are among the poorest in the country. The paper basically investigates the contexts related to gender equality particularly in India. It aims at investigating the causes that leads to such inequality at workplace and resultant forms of discrimination. The paper also tries to evaluate these causes and propose strategies to overcome barriers of inequality. The factors are broadly categorised into individual, organisational and socio-cultural dimensions. As per the review undertaken several strategies like gender mainstreaming, involvement in decision making, participation in unions can be adopted to bring in more equality within organisations.
