In the Shia world, the known tradition comes the day of Ashura is mourning via the remembrance and commemoration of Husein ibn Ali who alongside scores of his followers and family members were massacred at the plain of Karbala. What is the Quranic viewpoint pertaining to this commemoration? What did Husein Do to merit remembrance? What happened was in history, therefore, how is it applies to us at this age and yonder becoming eternal in the process? This paper answer all these questions providing enough scriptural evidences.
Moula Abi Abdillah al-Husain Ibn Ali (as) said: “I have risen against Yazid (L) as I wish to reform the Ummah of my grandfather. I wish to encourage Maruf (good) and discourage Munkar (evil), and follow in the path of my grandfather, Rasulullah (S), and my father, Amir al-Mumineen Ali bin Abi Talib(as)”. Azadari is what has kept the religion alive. In the words of Al Imam Jafar us-Sadiq (as), Azadari has kept alive the divine movement started by Moula al-Hussain (as) in Karbala. It has gripped the hearts and minds of devotees for more than fourteen centuries. The sacred institution of Aza could not be obliterated by Yazid (L) of that time and it cannot be obliterated by the Yazids of today. This “Letter” highlights how Ulama al-Su (corrupt-clergy) have turned the real spirit of Azadaari of Al-Imam al-Husain Ibn Ali (as) for their nefarious proposes and celebrate Muharram as a festival, where people get together and socialize. In Muharram, these “Traders of the Zikar of Husain (as)” exploit the sentiments of devotees only to collect money in the name of Husain (as). For them, Muharram is a ritual, a meeting point of business, while in reality, it has a revolutionary spirit to crush any tyrant Empire. The philosophy of Azadari and the responsibility of Azadar is briefly discussed in this letter in 10 points. A devotee has to know these neglected points, if he loves Husain (as) truly.

Book Review on the newly published book by Dr. Muhammad-Reza Fakhr-Rohani 'The Shi'i Islamic Martyrdom Narratives of Imam al-Ḥusayn'. The topic of the movement and martyrdom of Imam Husayn is central to the doctrine of Shi‘ism. There are many works devoted to this subject, especially in the context of mourning events held annually on this occasion. Thus, an enormous amount of literature has been written on the uprising of Imam Husayn. Here, Muhammad-Reza Fakhr-Rohani has analyzed the major outlines of typical martyrdom narratives (maqtals) of Imam al-Husayn and his martyred companions.
Moula Abi Abdillah Al Imam al-Husain (as) was 57 at the time of his Shahadat. The Imam (as) must have delivered a series of sermons during his lifetime, conducted thousands of Asb’aq (lessons) for innumerable scholars, and guided thousands on various occasions, but how many people are aware of it? Except for what transpired during his last moments, most don’t know much about him. Qur’an informs that we must follow the Hadi with Ma’arifah (understanding), and it condemns blind faith. Islam does not promote or encourage fanaticism. This becomes evident after reading the sermon of Al-Imam al-Husain (as). The following historical sermon of “Sayyidush Shuhada” Abi Abdillah Al Imam al-Husain ibn Ali (as) was delivered on his way to Kufa from Mina-Makkah in 60 AH. It can be divided into three parts: i). Fada’il (merits) of Amir al Mumineen (as) and of the Ahl al-Bayt (as) ii). Significance of “al-Amr bil-maruf wan-Nahy Anil-Munkar” iii). Responsibilities of the Ulama against Zulm (tyranny), Fas’ad (corruption) and the consequences of their silence against the atrocities of tyrants. This alongside the condemnation of Ulama al-Su (corrupt scholars). This powerful sermon reminds each Muslim of their responsibility towards “al-Amr bil-maruf wan-Nahy Anil-Munkar”and the scholars of their assigned duty to inculcate Islamic principles and values in the masses and not to mislead them in the name of religion. It is essential to communicate what Moula Al-Husain ibn Ali (as) has taught. This enlightening Talim is not limited to his era alone but for eras to come till the Day of Judgement. For the convenience of the readers, all parts of the sermon collected from authentic sources are presented here with an explanation. We must pay attention to the Talim (teachings) of Moula Abi Abdillah al-Husain Ibn Ali (as) and act upon them if we truly love him the way we claim to do so.

This is a poem which I composed for my teacher and guide Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi al-Idrisi al-Hassani. It was my way of thanking him for what he has dispensed to us, his disciples, of knowledge, gnosis and exalted spiritual states. I know that I speak for people all over the globe when I say that Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi is among the last and few right acting scholars who has neither succumbed to Pax-Americana or its anti-thesis. He is not a reactionary, but a scholar of correct dynamic proactive actions - THE SON OF HIS ,MOMENT.

Shah Abdul Hannan was a great believer in Islam and lover of his country. He would reach out to any groups that work for one or both of these two entities. He had friends in major political parties and through them conveyed advice to the leadership for the betterment of Bangladesh. He always highlighted the good attributes of people and hardly spoke ill of others. I can write reams of paper to describe his honesty and magnanimity and his ability to love and forgive others. Suffice to say here that the country owes a profound debt of gratitude to Shah Abdul Hannan. I hope posterity will emulate his selflessness, nobility of character and intense patriotism. It is also my hope that his legacy will continue across future generations. I pray to God for his recompense in the life hereafter.

Iterations of Lament: Anachronism and Affect in a Shi'i Islamic Revival in Turkey2011 •
Abstract: This article discusses how the Shi’i Fatimi Ismaili Tayyabi Dawoodi Bohras commemorate the first ten days of Muharram, also known as Al Asharah al-Mubarakah in remembrance of the Azeem and unparalleled sacrifice of Moula Abi Abdillah Al Imam al-Husain Ibn Amir al-Mumineen Ali (as) at Karbala. Sayyid ash Shuhada Husain (as), his Ahl al-Bayt (as) and Ash’ab (ra) fought against the Zulm, injustice, and harassment committed by the Syrian emperor Yazid (L). Al Imam al-Husain (as) opposed and exposed him by sacrificing his life. The process of learning enriches the Aqidah and ‘ilm of the community members through Muharram Wa’az (sermons), which includes various topics of interest. It also informs us that this 1000-year-old legacy of the Shi’i Fatimi Ismaili Imams is continued with the same spirit by their Du’at, which refreshes the spiritual energies of the followers.
