The characterization of Argentinean honeys from the vegetation units (VUs) of the phytogeographical provinces located in Catamarca and La Rioja was performed with the analysis used for honey quality control: sugar profile, free acidity, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), color and contents of moisture, ash, total soluble solids, and hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF). Honeys were authentic and traceable, and complied with the specifications of national and/or international standards, verifying their blossom origin, high quality, good maturity, and freshness. Honeys from VU-9 and VU-23 presented significantly distinctive physicochemical parameters, evidencing the influence of the flora and pedoclimatic conditions of these VUs. Honeys from VU-23 presented significantly higher contents of glucose and total reducing sugars (F + G), and lower EC, ash contents, fructose/glucose ratio, and concentrations of turanose and maltose than those from VU-9. Honeys from VU-23 in La Rioja also exhibited characteristic lighter colors and lower pH and ºBrix values and turanose amounts; and honeys from VU-9 in La Rioja exhibited highest pH values. Catamarca honeys were characterized by high free acidity and high amounts of turanose, regardless of the VUs. The contents of sugars and total soluble solids, moisture, pH, EC, and color of honeys from Catamarca and La Rioja are published here for the first time. This study contributes to the typification of honeys from these provinces, which will provide them an added value and allow them to access newer markets.
BH7 Conference - Rome, February 10-14, 2025 - Call for Paper 1st circular
The conference will be held at Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), February 10-14, 2025, jointly hosted by the departments: Istituto Italiano di Studi Orientali (ISO), Dipartimento di Scienze dell’Antichità (ScAnt), Dipartimento di Storia Antropologia Religioni Arte e Spettacolo (SARAS). Broadening Horizons (BH) is a series of international conferences organized by and dedicated to graduate, postgraduate students, and early-career researchers dealing with the broad field of the human past in Western Asia and Egypt, including pre-Classical and Classical periods. The seventh edition - Broadening Horizons 7 (BH7) - has as its overall theme "Changes, Challenges and New Frontiers" and will be hosted at Sapienza University of Rome, February 10-14, 2025. The 5-day conference will take place in a hybrid format, both in-person and online. The conference is structured in five parallel thematic sessions, which promote the scientific exchange between scholars from different fields, including archaeological, anthropological, historical, philological, and cultural heritage studies, as well as related interdisciplinary fields.

The long-lived Simon Wiesenthal (1908-2005), who spent a considerable part of his life in Vienna, was one of the most important Jewish figures of his time: he dedicated his life to documenting the historical crimes of the Holocaust and to catching the perpetrators of Nazi crimes. In this article (a version of a conference paper presented last year), I attempt to reconstruct Wiesenthal's relationship with the socialist regimes of Eastern Europe, including Hungary, on the basis of new sources.

Calculation of transmission line faults has a fundamental importance in the fault detection, classification, and location determination of faults in transmission line. This paper presents a proposed computer program based on Matlab software to calculate all ten types of shunt faults that may occur in a transmission line. Various fault scenarios (fault types, fault locations and fault impedance) are considered in this paper. The inputs of the proposed program are line length, source voltage, positive, negative and zero sequence for source impedance, line charging, and transmission line impedance. The output of the algorithm is used to train an artificial intelligence networks to detect, classify and locate transmission lines faults. Simulation results have shown the effectiveness of the algorithm under the condition of all types of shunt faults.

This paper examines the technical aspects of indirect cooking using pyrolithic technology in Ireland with a particular focus on its application during the Bronze Age. The widespread distribution of burnt mounds (fulachtaí fia) is striking, suggesting that Ireland was the most prolific user of the technology in Bronze Age Europe. However, narratives related to these sites have long time revolved around function, to an extent that the basic definition of this monument type has been called into question. This paper examines the use of these sites based on evidence from some one thousand excavated examples in Ireland. This review provides new insights into the use of pyrolithic technology for cooking. The model proposed here is of open-air feasting/food sharing hosted by small family groups, in a manner that was central to different types of social bonding.
