LA Galaxy have reportedly signed former Borussia Dortmund player Marco Reus to a deal through Dec. 2025 with an option to extend, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Bundesliga legend was out of contract following Dortmund's loss in the Champions League final to Real Madrid this summer. Reports indicated the player was open to a move to Major League Soccer after being linked with St. Louis CITY SC and Charlotte FC.

LA Galaxy reached a deal with Charlotte FC for his discovery rights prior to signing him.

The report indicates that Reus is planning to travel to the United States in the coming days for a medical and to sign his new contract.

LA Galaxy adds former Bundesliga legend to talented side

As has been the case this summer with Reus' potential transfer, the Galaxy does not have an open Designated Player slot on the roster. Gabriel Pec, Riqui Puig and Joseph Paintsil already occupy those three slots.

Contract details were not revealed, but Reus would make around $1.7 million this year as a non-Designated Player.

Adding Reus to the team's already potent attack makes LA Galaxy one of the clear favorites to top the MLS Western Conference. Reus scored nine goals in 42 total appearances last season for Dortmund coming up just short of European glory.

Galaxy currently top the Western Conference with 49 points, but have played two games more than city rival LAFC who trail the Gs with 47. As LAFC reinforce their attack with the signing of Olivier Giroud and target Antoine Griezmann, El Trafico just became that much more exciting on Sept. 14.

Before that, the Galaxy face Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup 2024 round of 32. The team returns to MLS action on Aug. 24 taking on Atlanta United.
