“When we move sites to WP Engine, it’s because we want that foundational level of performance and security taken care of. From there, it’s much easier for us to identify where the real issues are, fix them, and provide our clients with a faster, more secure final product."

The Challenge
Though Thermador sits at the cutting-edge of culinary appliance innovation, the company’s WordPress-built blog had fallen behind the technical curve. Thermador’s marketing team turned to WP Engine Agency Partners at Red Door Interactive for help decreasing page load speeds and improving site security.
The Solution
Red Door migrated Thermador’s WordPress site to WP Engine’s fully managed hosting platform, taking advantage of its robust security environment, advanced DNS network, and advanced network cache, which provided immediate improvements to page speed and site security.
After migrating from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to WP Engine, Google Lighthouse performance scores, including Core Web Vitals, for the Thermador blog homepage soared.
Experts at Red Door noted a 217% increase from 23 to 73 on desktop. On mobile, those scores saw an increase of 17.5%, rising from 57 to 67.
Excellent results continued as Red Door’s experts dove further into the site. On desktop, the blog detail pages saw a 423% score increase, going from 13 to 68, and on mobile, a 37.5% increase brought Google Lighthouse scores from 56 to 77.
The Red Door team also removed a number of unused plugins along with a code-heavy video hero to further improve site speed and performance.
The migration to WP Engine also helped establish automated CI/CD pipelines, ensuring the site continues to use the most updated PHP and WordPress versions.
“Migrating to WP Engine is like a shot of adrenaline for your Core Web Vitals,” said Red Door Interactive Sr. Director, Web & Platform Solutions Candice Wyatt.
Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, all security issues were resolved by the time Red Door completed its first post-migration audit.
“Every new project we take on is going to be slightly different, and how we approach a new project really depends on what we uncover during our technical audit,” Wyatt continued.
“In this case, providing the Thermador blog with a better foundational framework took care of most of the issues they were experiencing. After migrating the site and making just a few simple changes to plugins and site code, the site performance improvements were undeniable.”
Now, the Thermador blog is prepared for longevity with a hosting provider that protects against security threats and enhances site speed.
