The young woman Dorte comes from Funen to Copenhagen on the 4-train. In the meantime, things are going on in the large villa of the director Asger: the son Steen is as if he has been cheated out of Asger, while the daughter Margot blames her father for his dissolute and wasteful life. Then Dorte rings the doorbell, and she has brought secrets that will change the life of the director's family completely.
