Marina Wang
Having received her Doctor of Philosophy from the Centre for the Study of World Christianity, School of Divinity, University of Edinburgh, Marina Xiaojing Wang served as lecturer and adjunct assistant professor in the Divinity School of Chung Chi College/Department of Cultural & Religious Studies, Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2015 to 2020. She also served as associate director of the Christian Study Centre on Chinese Religion and Culture (CUHK) and assistant executive editor of Ching Feng: A Journal on Christianity and Chinese Religion and Culture. She recently joined the Centre of Mission and Global Studies at VID Specialized University in Norway as post-doctoral research fellow in Intercultural History of Christianity. Her research focuses on the history of Christian (mainly Protestant) missions and World Christianity; world ecumenism and its application in Asian contexts; the interaction and tension between Christianity and nationalism (with a specific focus on twentieth-century China, India and East Asia); the complex relationship between Christian education and China’s search for modernity, national identity construction and nation-state building during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; and the interplay between religion, historical memory and politics. Her articles on Chinese Christianity appear in a number of journals and edited books, including Studies in Church History and Studies in World Christianity. She is currently preparing her manuscript titled ‘All One in Christ Jesus’: Cheng Jingyi and the Quest for Christian Unity in China for publication.
