Stressing Out Over Happiness: — exploring the effects of stress, meditation and happiness

Matthieu Ricard, Buddhist monk, author, scientist, and photographer, has been called “the happiest man alive.” This lofty title took hold following a study conducted on him by neuroscientist Richard Davidson at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ricard’s brain activity during meditation reported exceptionally high levels of gamma waves associated with happiness and well-being.

Ricard says that being happy is a skill that can be cultivated by way of meditation, compassion, and mindfulness. If you haven’t heard what he has to say maybe you’ll want to give a listen.

Many people have lectured and written about how to be happy, but let’s take a deeper look beyond the how-to and into the reality of what we call happiness.
