IRIS (Information Systems Research in Scandinavia) Conference is an annual meeting for researchers in Scandinavia. Through 29 annual conference meetings a social network of co-authorships and general research collaboration has emerged. This article contributes a historical reflection and analysis of the social network of researchers associated with the IRIS in the period from 1978 to 2006. We make use of the network visualization and analysis tool called Commetrix. We will examine the influence of certain researchers in this network by identifying their betweenness centrality and degree centrality. We will reflect on the nature and characteristic of the research topics by analyzing the network of keywords found in the conference paper titles, and visualizing their representation in the network. 1 Molka-Danielsen et al.: IRIS (1978-2006) Historical Reflection through Visual Analysis

The method focuses on organizational communication and coordination. Five phases of intervention are described: interviews, group discussions, lectures, simulation, and personal guidance. We evaluate the method by discussing the results and effects of the intervention

There must be different degrees of this attribute, perhaps there are multiple dimensions to characterise the Scandinavian character. Some of these dimensions are briefly outlined below. The use of computers in cooperative work implies new needs for articulations due to the individual’s dynamic and changing situation in respect to collective and individual aspects. The computers should mediate both categories of activities, without hampering the alternation between them. In the conceptualisation of articulation work, the paper presents a framework that is aimed at exploring and analysing this complexity of articulation. Basic principles from activity theory constitute an appropriate approach in this respect.

Government is a legitimisation structure that maintains and controls the rules of the institution. For the citizens, the governed, the rules are supposed to be meaningful. The concept of work role is a good tool for representing work and division of labour, and the computer supported tasks make no exception of this. Relationships between actors, roles, tasks and computer systems are discussed from the act-oriented perspective. Role based analysis of an activity brings the problems of competence, responsibility and co-operation with the ISs into the surface.

The needle cathode moves on the disc. A magnetic field is applied in the axial direction of the needle cathode in order to converge and radiate the electron beam emitted from the needle cathode to the disc.

The dominant interpretation by Hirschheim and Klein (1992) is challenged by the construction of an alternative interpretation. The tension between the alternatives gives rise to a discussion of the paradigms and their relevance, need and usefulness.

It has been circulating among the four Scandinavian countries Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden now already 20 years. In August 1997 the IRIS Association was established. At the same meeting I was invited to give an opening address about the 20 years of IRIS history. For this presentation I collected and analysed quite a lot of material, and it seems that this material could also serve further interests than merely chronological curiosity. For example, it tells much about the Scandinavian School in Information Systems. Several persons in the audience came and told me that the ideas explored in the presentation ought to be made available in written form. The volume of such a work is too extensive to be published as an article and too narrow to justify a monograph. I therefore suggested that I could write a series of columns for the Scandinavian Journal...

Instead of placing responsibilities into the hands of a provider, new forms of co-operation are emerging in which patients are regarded as a resource and a partner. In order to see this vision come to life, mechanisms that: first, support patient’s health decision making; and second, integrate matters of health into a wider ensemble that is health space; the overarching state of health-related affairs, are needed. In the following, these kinds of mechanisms are investigated and their applicability is discussed in relation to a national project. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – The work is exploratory and conceptual, focussing more on people than on technology. In the work, findings related to a concept of a health navigator; an artefact of personal health decision support, are assembled into a framework that bases on key sociological theories.
