In this study, a Geographic Information System (GIS) to predict primate crop raiding susceptibility was developed using land use types and estimated macaque populations as the determining criteria. The susceptibility map showed that most potential crop raiding areas faced low risks. However, this is a likely scale artifact whereby greater accuracies can be achieved using higher resolution spatial data.

Failure on the part of maritime enforcement agencies will cost Malaysia heavily in terms of loss to fisheries.

However, little is known about their species diversity. In this study, we investigated the diversity and abundance of arboreal ants on mangrove apple trees, Sonneratia caseolaris Engl. in the Rembau-Linggi mangrove, Peninsular Malaysia. We collected nests and foraging individuals found on the trees(branch or foliage).

Results showed that the adults of two firly species,(Pteroptyx tener and pteroptyx bearni) were congregating on 170 trees (belonging to 27 different species), located along 1-15 km from the river mounth. it was observed that the spatial distributions of the two pteroptyx species were divided into three zones along the river.

The authors worked with professional architects, a waste artist, environmental scientists and local waste operators to uncover new uses and applications for discarded items. As a result, bottles, aluminium cans, reclaimed doors, crushed concrete and second-hand bricks, etc. were identified, explored and integrated into the architectural design.

Dengue fever is a recurring public health problem afflicting thousands of Malaysians annually. In this paper, the risk map for dengue fever in the peninsular Malaysian states of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur was modelled based on co-kriging and geographical information systems.

With a population exceeding 39 million, there are around 7.5 million cases and 35,000 deaths every year. The predicted distribution of malaria derived from climate factors such as maximum and minimum temperatures, rainfall and relative humidity was compared with the actual number of malaria cases in Sudan for the period 2004 to 2010.

We conducted a pot experiment on three secondary forest species, Glochidion obscurum, Lagerstroemia speciosa and Vitex pinnata, to ascertain their response to nutrient addition.

These beetles have been found congregating on trees or shrubs along tidal rivers in several areas in Malaysian mangrove forests (see Ballantyne & McLean, 1970; Wong, 2001;

Our map analysis describes how Kampung Baru, which is a little pocket of traditional Kuala Lumpur, has changed in two different post-Independence periods: 1. The mid-20th century (1969) and 2. The early 21st century (2004). The maps used are published by the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia at the scale of 1: 50,000 for the 1969 map and at 1: 10,000 for the 2004 map.

The objectives of our survey were to:(1) gauge students' knowledge of GIS and (2) gauge students' interest in GIS. The authors asked five questions to 96 students at Universiti Putra Malaysia. These students were from various faculties (Environmental Studies, Science, Computer Science & Information Technology, Biotechnology & Biomolecular Science, Medicine & Health Science, Modern Languages & Communication).
