The quality of the printed screen elements made by the application of two types of offset rubber ... more The quality of the printed screen elements made by the application of two types of offset rubber blankets (ORB) have been investigated in this work. The force in the contact zone between the offset cylinder (ORB) and the printing cylinder (printing substrate) is decisive for making the prints. With the different structure of ORB the different deformation zone is created, which results in forming the different sizes of the screen elements. The printing substrate has also influence, and because of that 5 characteristic papers (fine art paper gloss, fine art paper mat, offset paper, calendered offset paper and recycled paper) have been analyzed. The results show that on the tested printing substrates, the both ORBs form the greatest dot gains in the following order: offset paper, recycled paper, calendered offset paper, fine art paper mat and fine art paper gloss. Such results are completely in accordance with the original roughness of paper.

The aim was to determine whether it is possible to reproduce Braille, the degree of quality of created Braille dots (cells), the legibility of Braille text, and how many layers of varnish are necessary for quality reproduc- tion. The Braille letter was applied to the previously printed label (design) using 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 layers of varnish. It has been found that it is possible to reproduce a quality and legible Braille. With the increase in the number of layers, the assessment of legibility and quality of reproduction by the respondents also increased. Samples reproduced with 12 layers of varnish received a very good grade of legibility and good grade for quality of Braille. Podrucje grafickog inženjerstva je multidisciplinarno i ukljucuje studij kemijske tehnologije, graficke tehmologije, grafickog dizajna, racunarstva, strojarstva, elektrotehnike i fizike. Za potrebe znanstveno-istraživackog, kao i rada u nastavi, nužno je pratiti nove podatke i informacije u radovima o razvoju suvremenih grafickih tehnologija u relevantnim znanstvenim casopisima. U bibliografskoj bazi podataka ULRICHs Periodical Directory (baza poodatka koja donosi pregled međunarodnih znanstvenih i strucnih casopisa) pretraživano je podrucje grafickog inženjerstva prema sljedecim kljucnim rijecima: digital printing, offset printing, letter press printing, sreen printing, manufacture of paper, manufacture of ink, colorimetry. Strength properties are usually increased by blending recycled fibres with virgin fibres in pulp for paper production, while optical and printing properties are often improved by coating after the paper is being manufactured. In this study, the usability of virgin fibres derived from straw as the agricultural residue of wheat, barley and triticale crops for paper production was evaluated based on the stability of prints on laboratory-made paper. For that purpose, in laboratory conditions, the papers with the addition of straw pulp in the pulp of recycled fibres were formed and prior to printing they were coated with TiO2-based coating. Such pre-treatment is primarily used to modify the surface tension of a substrate, which primarily aims to achieve higher print quality and better ink adhesion. In this paper, the effect of the HP Indigo WS 6800 print press on the paper substrate was tested with a variation of corona power (0 W, 450 W, and 950 W) and the application of the different thicknesses of primer intended for working with ElectroInk inks (0 g/m2, 0,5 g/m2 and 1 g/m2).
