Nikola Vojnović
I am born in Zagreb where I started my elementary education. I finished elementary school in Pula where I graduated from secondary school. After one year’s military service in October 1988, I enrolled the Department of Geography (Faculty of Science) at the University of Zagreb. On the same Department, I completed my Master's degree in 2002 under the leadership Zlatko Pepeonik, PhD and a doctoral thesis 2012 under the leadership of Rade Knežević, PhD. My doctoral thesis is entitled “Indicators of sustainable tourism: the case of inland Istria”. I worked in elementary and secondary schools for 17 years. At the moment I am working at the University of Juraj Dobrila where as an assistant professor I teach undergraduate and graduate subjects such as Tourism and Spatial Planning, Tourism and Physical Environment, World Tourism Geography, Tourism Geography of Croatia, Sustainable Tourism Management on The Interdisciplinary Study of Culture and Tourism, World Tourism Geography on The Faculty of Economics and Tourism and Geography on the Faculty of Education. I am an active member of Croatian Geographic Society since 1987 and the participant of Croatian Geographical Congress. Since the end of 2006 I have been a member of the expert working group for drafting the state graduation in geography. Since March 2008, I have participated in the research project “Socio-geographic transformation of coastal rural area of northern Dalmatia” (Code project 269-0000000-3293), leading by Željka Šiljković, PhD, the University of Zadar. My professional, scientific and research interests are tourism geography, population geography, spatial planning, regional development and sustainable tourism. Due to these interests I published several reports, research and professional papers in Croatian and international journals and proceedings. Main research subjects in these papers are population distribution, depopulation, demographic resources, life cycle of tourist destination, stagnation of tourist destination, geographical research model of the relation between tourism and industry, indicators of sustainable tourism, cultural tourism, regional development of tourism and implementation of carrying capacity.
