This paper examined the diverse ways in which Maltina advertisement messages were organised in Nigeria. While many scholars had discussed and analysed advertising language, fewer had paid any detailed attention to how messages were constructed and organised. The objective of the paper was, therefore, to investigate how Maltina advertisements messages were prepositioned and thrust at the potential consumer through the resources available in the language. The author sought to find out whether Maltina advertisements over the years revealed textual parameters which the advertising agency (Lowe Lintas) chose to transmit the projected meaning of the adverts. The advertisements were sourced from newspapers and newsmagazine that were provided by the Gandhi section of the University of Lagos Central Library. The selected relevant Maltina advertisements were obtained from 1976 to 2010 newspapers. Systemic Functional Linguistics by M. A. K. Halliday was used as the theoretical framework of the study. The concept of Theme and Rheme; Given and New were employed to determine the information structure of the adverts. Findings revealed that Maltina advertisements over the years made known certain textual parameters which the advertising agency used to transmit the projected meaning of the adverts. The pedagogical implication was that the theory and the various concepts employed were veritable tools to apply to the organisation of students' composition and scholars’ research finding reports.
