I am currently employed as a postdoc at the Department of Political and Social Sciences (DSPS) of the University of Florence. My career path includes several research strands, the most recent being international migration of health professionals. In this field, I have conducted two studies for the International Labour Organization, and one through a grant awarded by the Global Governance Programme of the European University Institute (EUI). Between 2011 and 2014, I worked at the EUI as a postdoc researcher in a 4-years cross-country study on return migration directed by Jean-Pierre Cassarino. My earlier research includes studies on social and political aspects of new media (2006-2011, Research Fellow at DSPS) and social cohesion and economic development (2003 -2006, External Researcher at the LSE in London. In 2005 I was awarded a research grant by the Italian National Research Council to conduct a study on migration in Italy. I have been Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Buenos Aires (2011), Leibniz-Institut für Länderkunde, Leipzig (2015), Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (2008) and Visiting PhD Student at Queen's University, Canada (2002) and LSE (2002/3).
