Настоящата статия разглежда изходните начала в проучванията на българските диалекти през третата четвърт на 19. век. В нея се анализират методите, похватите и първите опити за създаването на упътвания и насоки за събиране и описване на диалектоложки материял от посочения период. С така обхванатата проблематика изследването представлява принос към историята на българската диалектология.
philological interest on behalf of such prominent figures as Yordan Hadzhikonstantinov-Dzhinot, Stefan Verkovich,
Lyuben Karavelov, Vasil Cholakov who focus upon both public life and relation between the written and spoken
form of the language characteristic of the third quarter of the 19th century. This richness is studied in a number of
publications to be found in the periodicals from that period and presented in the form of integral components or
small dialect dictionaries appended to the folklore collections. This interest is provoked by the archaic traits of these
dialects preserving vivid traces of the old Bulgarian heritage, on the one hand, and, on the other, by the focus on
the Bulgarian dialects characterizing the period of Bulgarian national revival in connection to the establishing of
the standardized Bulgarian literary language in which, to a greater or lesser extent, the characteristic features of the
Eastern Bulgarian dialects start to dominate in the new linguistic normativity.
The educational goals of the book transpire in the very essence of the idea that the epistolary theory should be implemented into clear examples. Therefore, types of letter patterns were provided not for mere reproducing but for interpretation and implication. And it is not a coincidence that by including the largest possible collection of examples of human relations – written and used as images of the various aspects of the human connections and interactions – Bozveli and Vaskidovich brought forward their practical epistolary lessons on writing good letters and maintaining a correspondence and etiquette.
The themes of the personal letters and fictional stories chosen by the co-authors not only reveal the wide range of possible human relations inside immediate and friend circles but also extol social, civil, and moral virtues. The alluded ethical issues of love, respect, commitment, filial love, clear conscience, kindness, and sincerity, as well as the influence they have or aim to have both on the sender and the addressee, implicitly point out the principles of good behavior at home, at school, and on the street. They truly embody the enlightenment philosophy about the new ethics – moral education, the core value of which is to work for the benefit of society.
The article studies the unique system of practical advice and theoretical guidelines proposed by the authors, concerning the composition of well-worded and grammatically correct letters, on the one hand, and their composition and shaping in accordance with the existing formal rules, on the other. The subject of interpretation is Bozveli and Vaskidovich’s views regarding letter structure, components, and requisites, and the appropriate etiquette expressions matching the relevant requisites and the type of letter.
future-tense formation.
The article addresses the first attempts on implying dialectological methods as a component of mother tongue education and Bulgarian language teaching, as well on the first known initiatives to organize extracurricular language practices together with senior-class students by collecting dialect material in accordance with the educational content. It highly praises the merit of mother tongue teachers from the late 19th century regarding the description and collection of the then Bulgarian dialects.
