The present work consists of a study of the percussive performance of Marabaixo and Batuque, two Afro-Amazonian manifestations occurring in quilombolas communities in the state of Amapá. This article aims to continue research that has been carried out for over 10 years, as well as to bring to the attention of the general public a study of the rhythms occurring in that region. An ethnography of the performance (PINTO, 2001) of the musical practices of these manifestations will be made to improve the understanding of the context in which these drums are present. It is a material with partial research results, as these investigations are in the middle of the author's doctoral program.
Palavras-Chave: Tambores da Amazônia, Ritmos Musicais Amazônicos, Boi bumbá do
Amazonas, Carimbó do Pará, Marabaixo do Amapá.
Abstract: The present work consists of a study of 3 Amazonian musical rhythms in 3 states of northern Brazil. For each cataloged rhythm, we contemplate questions such as the place of incidence, historical fragments, organology of percussion instruments, form of execution and transcriptions. Because this is a little studied subject, this work stimulates us to partially sate this gap related to the lack of studies focused specifically on the rhythmic and percussive part of the musical genres investigated here.
Keywords: Drums of the Amazon, Musical Rythms of the Amazon, Boi bumbá of Amazonas, Carimbó of Pará, Marabaixo of Amapá.
Palavras-chave: Ciranda de Manacapuru. Percussão.Bateria. Performance.
Abstract: The cirandas are among the most popular musical manifestations in the Amazon region. Although there is a considerable volume of folkloristic and socio-anthropological studies carried out on this manifestation, the study of percussive performance for the time remains neglected. In this reflection, we present a study on the performance of the percussion instruments of Ciranda de Manacapuru, guided in methodological terms by what Anthony Seeger (2008) proposes as ethnography of music.
