This study aims to survey the perceptions, behaviors, behavioral intentions, knowledgeability, ex... more This study aims to survey the perceptions, behaviors, behavioral intentions, knowledgeability, experiences, and attitudes of consumers and/or potential consumers of private jet travel and/or ownership regarding the private jet industry. This study is unprecedented and unique because it is the first scholarly literature to date on the private aviation industry with a luxury framework. It also is the first to address the phenomenon of the democratization of luxury in the private aviation industry. This study is of significance in the United States, as the United States is the largest private aviation market and the largest luxury market in the world. It employs a quantitative research method involving a design in the form of a survey questionnaire of 150 respondents to obtain data regarding the private aviation industry. It also conducts qualitative research through four industry expert interviews. The extensive findings of the empirical data are presented by summarizing the results of each question, and conclusions are drawn. This study benefits the industry and the academia of luxury and of private aviation.
This qualitative study documents the experiences of three undocumented Latino youth each at a dif... more This qualitative study documents the experiences of three undocumented Latino youth each at a different level—the elementary, middle, and high school levels. These case studies and oral histories from unique perspectives of undocumented students from traditional two-parent homes in a small town in the Piedmont in North Carolina serve to further the current research on undocumented youth and address a research gap. This study is also significant because the subjects reside in a state with the ninth largest undocumented population in the U.S. yet very few studies exclusively on undocumented students have been conducted in this state. Questions this research explores include: What have undocumented students’ K-12 experiences been? How have these experiences impacted their self-perception and their perceptions of their legal status, education, family, friends, future, and home—America? What is the extent of their knowledge and preparedness regarding higher education—networks, finances, academics, etc.? What do they and their parents believe are their options for a higher education? How do the students and their parents hope to see their undocumented status resolved, and how do these expectations affect their preparation for higher education?How much longer do these undocumented students expect to be Americans without papers?
