Antimicrobial Assay of Ethanol Extract of Nutmeg Leaves (Myristica Fragrans Houtt.) from Tomia Island Wakatobi District by TLC-Bioautography Method (supervised by Rachmat Kosman and St Maryam). The antimicrobial assay of ethanol extract of nutmeg leaves (Myristica fragrans Houtt) has been conducted. This research aimed to determine the active chemical compound (group of flavonoids, phenolic, essential oils, terpenoids) and the antimicrobial activity of ethanol extract of nutmeg leaves (Myristica fragrans Houtt) against some microbes using TLC-Bioautography method. The inhibitory activity of microbes was characterized by the formation of clear zone in the area around the spot. The result showed that the ethanol extract of nutmeg leaves inhibited the microbial growth at the concentration of 1% against the test bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Streptococcus mutans. The active chemical compound which have activity as antimicrobial by TLC-Bioautography is positive results, that is the phenolic group with Rf values of 0.92, 0.83, 0.54 and the essential oil with Rf value 0.80.
