This problem resulted in decreased productivity of vaname shrimp. One of the efforts made is through the application of sludge management methods, with the aim of reducing the pile of sludge at the bottom of intensive ponds. Sludge management methods include the system, CRS (Close Resirculating System), Semi Close, and biofloc. The writing method used is literature study, for data analysis by comparing the average production data and water quality in each system. Sludge management in the CRS system, move the remaining organic material into the settling pond. In semi close system, remove sludge periodically through central draine. sludge management in the biofloc system, utilizing heterotopic bacteria to treat the remaining organic matter.

The research aimed to determine the strategy for developing ecotourism based on alternative and integrated livelihoods at Cemara Beach. The method in the study is a descriptive method, with data analysis using potential mangrove analysis, and SWOT analysis. The results showed the potential of mangrove forests in the Cemara Banyuwangi Coast Area, found 12 types of mangroves, namely Acanthus ilicifolius L., Derris trifoliata Lour, Avicennia alba, Clerodendron inerme Gaertn, Sonneratia caseolaris, Rhizophora apiculata, Avicennia marina, Excoecaria agallocha L., Cydaisy serrenai, Sesuvium portulacastrum L, Nyepa fruticans, and Pandanus odoratissima. Results of the SWOT analysis formulate: 1) increasing knowledge and technology of the community to create alternative livelihoods based on natural resources; 2) improvement of road access to Cemara Beach and several infrastructure facilities to support the development of Cemara Beach ecotourism; 3) sustainable regulation and management of Cemara Beach ecotourism, based on turtle conservation, mangroves, and cypress; 4) expansion of cypress cover on the beach and mangrove cover.

The shrimp farming system model consists of an extensive system (traditional) and an intensive system. This study aims to compare the abundance of plankton, water conditions, growth performance of vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) in intensive and extensive aquaculture systems in the waters of Banyuwangi Regency. Parameters measured include physical and chemical parameters, namely temperature, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, salinity, ammonia, and alkalinity, type and abundance of plankton. The research method used is descriptive method. The method of analysis is the abundance of plankton, and analysis of productivity, SR, FCR and growth of vannamei shrimp. The results showed that plankton in intensive pond waters were identified as many as 4 classes, namely phytoplankton class Chlorophyta, Cyanophyta and Chrysophyta, while zooplankton class Protozoa. In traditional ponds, it is not much different, only the C...

Biofloc Technology was introduced since 2003 and getting more interest as proved to provide positive impact on production. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of biofloc on shrimp growth and feed efficiency. A laboratory experiment was set up using biofloc media and control (without biofloc). Five treatments of feeding levels (10%, 9.5%, 9.0%, 8.5%, and 8.0% body weight day-1) were applied, and compared with control at 10% feeding level but without biofloc. Nitrite concentration of the control was five times higher (± 0.51 mg l-1) than in the biofloc system (± 0.1 mg l-1). The similar pattern also occurred for Ammonia-Nitrogen. Shrimp survival rate was statistically comparable for both systems, ranging from 70.0% to 78.6%. Specific Growth Rate in the biofloc system was significantly higher (ranging from 8.1 – 9.2% body weight day-1) than the control (7.5% body weight day-1). This was due...
