In many developing countries, transportation modes are more varied than the other country. For ex... more In many developing countries, transportation modes are more varied than the other country. For example, in Jakarta, Indonesia, in some roadway, motorcycle is the most dominant vehicle, with total volume is four times higher than a passenger car. Thus, the traffic characteristic in motorcycle-dominated traffic differs from a common traffic situation. The purpose of this study is to apply the concept and theory developed to analyze motorcycle behaviour under motorcycle-dominated traffic condition. The survey is applied by recording the traffic flow movement of research location at specified time period. The macroscopic characteristic analyzed in this research is a speed-flow relationship based on motorcycle equivalent unit (MCU). Furthermore, a detail microscopic characteristic analyzed that is motorcycle time headway regarding traffic flow. MCU values computed were consists of motorcycle (MC), light vehicle (LV) and heavy vehicle (HV). Those values were calculated 1.00, 6.13 and 10.71 respectively. The speed and volume relationship result is showing a linear regression model with R2 value is 0.58, it can be explained that the correlation between two variables is intermediate. The headway distribution of motorcycle is compatible with the negative exponential distribution which fitted with the proposed theory for a small vehicle such as a motorcycle.

This study aims to identify hazards and provide efforts to control hazards using the HIRARC method. Based on the results of the study, 42 potential hazards were identified, with 21 possible hazards at a low level, and 21 possible hazards at a moderate level. Risk controls are carried out by checking the equipment before use, checking the feasibility of SIA and SIO to ensure operator competence, clearing the work area from unauthorized workers other than the operator of heavy equipment and helper(s), providing barricades and warning signs in the work area, using essential PPE and additional PPE, and good coordination and communication with all workers involved in driven pile foundation work. Pedestrians can cross the road safely if suitable facilities are provided for traffic conditions.... more Pedestrians can cross the road safely if suitable facilities are provided for traffic conditions. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of pedestrians at zebra crossing facilities and choose alternative crossing facilities to confirm the safety and environmentally friendly of pedestrian and crossing facilities. Based on the analysis, men crossed faster than women, men’s speed was 1.28 m/sec and women’s speed was 1.20 m/sec. The individual crossing speed is faster than the platoon, the individual speed is 1.23 m/s and the platoon speed is 1.18 m/s. From the survey results, the pelican cross crossing is more recommended for these conditions, the travel time for pedestrians with a zebra cross is 17 seconds and after simulating the travel time with a pelican crossing 10 seconds. This scenario can reduce the travel time for pedestrians to reach their destination by 7 seconds, therefore the Pelican crossing facility can be used as an alternative facility.

This research uses a relatively new technology to measure IRI value named the Roadroid, which is an android application developed from a Sweden company. Roadroid uses a built-in vibration sensor on a smart phone which is placed on the vehicle and produces output value in the form of IRI and speed values. Roadroid application obtained output data based IRI value and speed value with high accurately because used real-time data with each vehicle type which get through each road surface condition.
