Concern for ecumenical dialogue is becoming secondary for many theologians or members of the clergy, including hierarchs, who are preoccupied almost exclusively with addressing the problems facing their local and confessional communities. As a result, receptivity to ecumenical dialogue and cooperation is even lower among the faithful, who are preoccupied with assessing their own Christian identity in a socio-cultural context marked by rapid change and unprecedented challenges, of which secularism is only one of many. The disappointing assessment of the state of contemporary ecumenism, has led some ecumenists to an effort of identifying solutions for reimagining interconfessional dialogue in an ever-changing world. Theologians from all Christian traditions seek to contribute to identifying ways to unblock the current situation and to propose concrete approaches for rethinking ...

In Modernity, however, things began to change radically, especially with the development of theology as an academic discipline and even more so with the development of the profession of the theologian specializing in religious studies. This phenomenon penetrated Protestant churches in particular, but it is also found in Orthodoxy. In this study, we advance the hypothesis that, despite its negative connotation, the gap between academic theology and church life opens up the possibility of a promising dialogue between Evangelicals and the Orthodox in Romania. Especially in the last 30 years, theologians from both communities have interacted in the context of doctoral research, scientific conferences, a...

Typical for them is not only economic and social transition process caused by the fall of communism, but also a process of demographic transition that is characterized by a negative natural growth, decreased fertility, demographic ageing. Studies have tried to highlight different explanatory theories for this decline, and the nature of the relationship between evolution of economic development and demographic evolution. In this study we intend to analyze causality relationship between economic growth and fertility in the last 22 years in Romania. The empirical study aims to study the existence of a long run relationship between the two phenomena, and using the Granger method to highlight the type of causality between economic growth and fertility. In addition, if we add the unemployment rate, we want to analyze the existence of cointegration relationships for all three variables, to test the hypothesis that the economic and social transition has an impact on fertility. The empirical results show a relationship between fertility and economic output and between unemployment and fertility also, and support the hypothesis of demographic developments in Romania in accord with the theory of demographic transition, which however takes into account the socio-economic context of a country in the transition process

Although female participation in the labour force has decreased in Romania, male participation has fallen as well. The available data suggest that during transition the gender gap in wages has remained relatively stable, a striking outcome considering that there has been a large rise in overall wage disparity in 1996-2000 period. The losses in wages and in employment among women and men during the transition mean that the share of household incomes earned on primary jobs has declined in Romania. The main finding of this analysis is not that women's education level and occupation have a positive or negative effect on the gender pay gap. The main finding is that, the biggest parts of the gender pay gap remains, and it therefore remains technically unexplained. The segregation of women a...

This vision is continued in the New Testament, especially in the Pauline texts. Entering the biblical literature of the New Testament by means of the sapiential books of the Old Testament, aphtharsia is a term used in the biblical text designating both God and man. This double stance of the term allows for the shaping of a biblical anthropological vision about man's eternal destiny expressed in the patristic theology by means of the concept of theosis. The analysis of the occurrences of aphtharsia in the Pauline texts represents an important aspect of the research with regard to the place and role of this concept in the biblical thought about man, as well as the manner enabling the development of new contributions to the biblical anthropology.

In his work, the author often has to draw a separation line between the interpretation of the Bible given by the Gnostics and those which are in line with the Biblical revelation, developed in the tradition of the Apostles' interpretation. Such an example is represented by Ps. 81, passage used by the Gnostics to sustain their idea of a superior, " spiritual " man, who is united with the divinity, the one who is " god ". St. Irenaeus' exegesis on Ps. 81 offers theological and anthropological clarifications regarding the significance of the biblical syntagm " you are gods " , showing at the same time the lack of arguments and even the ridiculous position adopted by the Heretics.

Quoted out of its context, this verse seems to support the Gnostics' claim, and its interpretation can raise a host of theological problems. The author of this article analyzes Irenaeus' exegesis on the Pauline text, trying to uncover the meaning construed by the bishop in the context of his polemic against Gnosticism. Irenaeus envisages three possible solutions in interpreting 1 Cor. 15:50, as he attempts to refute the Gnostic heresy and to uncover the Christian meaning of this text. His method consists in resorting to key Gnostic philosophical concepts on one hand; and in bringing to bear on the text a Biblical anthropological perspective which departs from the classical Greek ontology and anthropology.

A tool to help readers draw close to Jesus, it presents discipleship as a way of life centred on the journey back to God – a journey that integrates the quest for salvation, wholeness, and human fulfilment. Ultimately, the invitation to discipleship is an invitation to live in obedience to God and commitment to our fellow human beings, as Christ calls his followers not only to their own transformation but to participate in the transformation of others.
