- Mutt is a member of G.I. Joe from the G.I. Joe portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
A master at his trade, Mutt has been raising and training dogs since childhood. He gets along quite well with them... far better than he gets along with his fellow Joes, in fact.
Don't cross him, or else you risk having a snarling beast set upon you. And then if there's anything left of you, his trusty dog Junkyard will have it as a snack.

G.I. Joe and the Transformers
Mutt was one of the unlucky Joes who formed the first line of defense around Power Station Alpha, making him not only among the first to deal with Bumblebee but also among the first to deal with a furious Superion. Blood on the Tracks Rather than just count his lucky stars that Superion abandoned the fight (possibly due to Mutt's mouthwash, or lack thereof), he opted to question Hawk and Sergeant Slaughter as to what would make the giant robot leave.
Later, when Serpentor ordered some Rattler pilots to strafe a cruise liner in order to create a diversion, Mutt was among the Joes ordered to help evacuate the wounded vessel. Power Struggle

Mutt accompanied Spirit on an information gathering mission on the town of Milleville. As the Joes prepared to defend the SPS Research Facility from Cobra, Mutt was assigned to guard the insides of the facility alongside Junkyard and Quick Kick. All three were soon knocked out by an invisible Zartan, who had infiltrated the complex using Decepticon cloaking technology. Mutt and Quick Kick eventually got up and followed the sound of their attacker's footsteps, with Mutt wanting to get even with him for hurting his dog. However, once the two Joes reached Zartan, they found that he had an accomplice in the form of Ravage.
Mutt fought bravely but futilely against the snarling robot jaguar, getting multiple cuts and having his leg fractured during the fight. Fortunately, Ravage was ordered to retreat before he finished the humans off. Unfortunately, Firefly had planted explosives in the building, and he blew it up with Mutt and Quick Kick still inside.
Mutt was later reported to be alive, but in a critical condition. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #3 He recovered quickly, and was ready to depart on G.I. Joe's next mission; the team had learned through their new Autobot allies the location of Cobra Island, and planned to launch a counter-offensive against the terrorists. Before they took off, however, Hawk received new orders from his superiors: to disable Bumblebee and Wheeljack and take them to Area 51, while Cobra Island was to be dealt with by a nuclear strike. When they learned that a nuclear weapon would react with the energon stockpile on Cobra Island and blanket half the Earth in a nuclear winter, the Joes decided to go against orders and rescue the Autobots held captive by the terrorists themselves. Mutt and Junkyard attended a meeting in T.H.E. P.I.T., where the top brass of G.I. Joe discussed the approach of the planet Cybertron, and their plan if its inhabitants proved to be hostile. When the Decepticons first disembarked from their ships, Mutt posited that Rumble couldn't be all bad, seeing as he brought his pets to the inter-planetary meeting. But the meeting soon turned sour, and the Decepticons confirmed the Joes' suspicions that they were facing an alien invasion. Mutt, Junkyard, and the rest of the Joes evacuated their base when it became necessary to fire down a Coltonbolt from an orbiting defense satellite to deal with the Cybertronians. They then regrouped off-shore. I Saw Three Ships
Aboard the USS Flagg, Mutt took part in General Hawk's mock-funeral, an elaborate set-up meant to draw Cobra into the open. The plan worked, though the Joes were faced with not only their human enemies, but the combined might of the Decepticobra alliance! After a hard-fought battle, the Joes were able to repel their opponents. Funeral for a Friend
Mutt wound up on Cybertron after the Joes allied themselves with the Autobots, and took up residence within Metroplex. When both the Decepticon Trypticon and the rogue Autobot Fortress Maximus came stomping about, Mutt joined a team to deal with the latter of the two titans. Within Maximus, Mutt crossed paths with Clyde and asked the boar to bring him to the rest of U.S.7, currently being held prisoners. But when Mutt was reunited with Junkyard, his loyal pet lashed out at him due to Blackarachnia's influence. Junkyard returned to normal once she was defeated though. Mutt met up with the rest of his team and they then made their way to Fortress Maximus's head module as the titan tangled with Trypticon. Maximus's head detached itself, transformed into the smaller robot Cerebros, and allowed the troops within it to storm Megatron's throne room. However, the leader of the Decepticons was ready for them, and Mutt was captured as a P.O.W. Everybody Hates Metroplex
Lacking any skills Decepticobra found useful, Mutt was shipped off to the Polyhex Killway to fight for Megatron's amusement. With his body under remote-control, he had no choice but to duel against his fellow captive, Inferno.Expelled from the Garden Mutt was afterwards shipped off to "Springfield," a facsimile of an American town built into the back of the giant Scorponok. After being brainwashed by "Dr. Mindelbender," Mutt was made to believe that he had always been a normal suburbanite, instead of a soldier in the ranks of G.I. Joe. Scarlett, imprisoned alongside him, managed to hold on to the truth but was unable to break Mutt free from his conditioning. Mutt's memories only returned when Junkyard came to him in the street and began licking his face. Roused from his hypnotized state he joined Scarlett, and the other captives, into busting out of Scorponok. Headmasters
Joining up with the Autobots once more, the Joes marched with them on the Decepticon base to stop them from absorbing the sun. Transformers vs. G.I. Joe #12 When Ultra Magnus emerged to do battle with Megatron, Mutt and Junkyard were among the Joes who stood with him. Succeeding in vanquishing the Decepticons, the Joes returned home to Earth, where Mutt celebrated with the others at a bar. The War Never Ends
