A total of 1364 (958 caw and 305 buffaloes) post acaricide treated animals were selected and examined for the prevalence of tick infestation. The effect of host, breed, health status, sex, age, coat colour on tick infestation was recorded. Prominently Boophilus, Amblyomma and Hyalomma spp were found on caw and buffalo. Where age and sex of host play non-significant role in prevalence of tick infestation, while breed of the host and health status are important parameters found to be significantly affecting tick prevalence. The routine acaricide treatment at local level is found ineffective in controlling tick infestation. This may be due to use of unspecific acaricide, wrong method of application and increased resistance in tick. This research focuses on necessity of integrated tick management Programme and awareness at national level.

The study involved survey, fecal examination, and identification of coccidial species based on their morphology, predilection site in the intestine and sporulation time. Chicken is more susceptible to Eimeria tenella, Eimeria necatrix, Eimeria brunetti, Eimeria mitis, Eimeria acervulina, Eimeria praecox, Eimeria maxima. During our investigation three new species i.e. Eimeria nikamae, Eimeria tarabaie, Eimeria shivpuri, were recorded in Broiler chicken from Aurangabad district of Maharashtra.

The reactions proceed selectively and within a couple of minutes giving high yields of the products. The compounds were characterized by spectral (UV-visible, IR, NMR and GC-MS) and thermal analyses. The TG curves of compounds were analyzed to calculate various kinetic parameters (n, E, Z, ΔS and G) using Coats – Redfern (C.R.), MacCallum-Tanner (M.T.) and Horowitz-Metzger (H.M.) method. The compounds were tested for antibacterial activity against B. subtilis and E. coli and antifungal activity against A. niger and C. albicans using serial dilution technique.

The complexes are monomeric and nonelectrolytic in nature. They possess 1:2 metal: ligand stoichiometry and an octahedral geometry. The coordination to the central metal atom takes place through two nitrogen atoms and bonding through oxygen of the -OH group. The complexes are thermally stable and with high values of energy. The compounds show good antibacterial and antifungal activity.

Piscicidal activity of methanolic extract of Cestrum nocturnum leaves against predatory fish Chan... more Piscicidal activity of methanolic extract of Cestrum nocturnum leaves against predatory fish Channa punctatus and their behavioural changes were investigated. C. nocturnum leaves extract shows the remarkable piscicidal activity. It shows there was significant negative correlation between LC50 values and exposure periods when observed till 72 hr. During the toxicity experiment the fish shows the behavioral changes such as suffocation, rapid movement, and spiraling and convulsion period to death. Piscicidal activities show their dependence with concentration and time. This piscicidal activity may be due to their adverse effect on respiratory as well as energy production of fish. During bioassay experiments, a phenomenon of recovery was observed in stupefied fishes when fishes were shifted to untreated water after showing a partial symptom of death at LC100 dose. This indicates the tolerance and detoxifying capacity of fish to toxic principal. This nature of the fish stupefying property of C. nocturnum extracts could be advantageous in aquaculture for fish catching and releasing into new isolated site.

The incidences of pest itself suggest importance of study on this pest. Carbohydrate metabolizing digestive enzyme, α-amylase was studied from this insect. Biochemical characterization of this enzyme and screening of natural inhibitors will prove vital strategies against infestation. As initial step to this goal here we report the detection of α-amylase of Ceratovacuna lanigera by starch agar well diffusion assay. Biochemical parameters like pH, temperature and effect of substrate concentration were studied and compared with α-amylases from other sources. The optimum pH of α-amylase of Ceratovacuna lanigera was found to be pH 8 in contrast to human salivary α-amylases and fungal α-amylases those shows optimum activity at pH 7 and pH 6 respectively. Maximum activity of α-amylase was found to be at 40°C. Protein profile by Native - PAGE showed banding pattern with varied intensities. The α-amylase of Ceratovacuna lanigera detected in the present study needs further exploration for its use in better management of sugarcane woolly aphid.

of 30 percent v/v alcohol. Such effective tincture can be prepared and utilize for preparation of
antiseptic ointment and other formulation.
District, Maharashtra State, India. Methods: Present observational survey study, one hundred twenty five
clinically proved by their medical reports, cases of thalassemic children's with age 6 months to 18 Years,
coming for to get blood transfusion from different parts of Solapur district. Results: The results indicates
that the increased mortality during 11-15 years of age. As a result, transfusional iron overload can cause
increased morbidity and premature mortality in thalassemia patients. This study will be helpful in further
defining the morbidity and mortality in thalassemic patients.
for their effect on the stored grain pest Tribolium confusum and Tribolium castaneum
(Herbst). Effect of the plants extract on duration of last instars larval period, % of
emergence, weight and mortality of T. castaneum and T. confusum was evaluated and
statistical analysed and graphically presented. Insecticidal effect varies with cestrum
species. Comparatively alcoholic extract showed remarkable insecticidal activity than the
aqueous extract against Tribolium sp. Extract incorporated diet when fed to larvae the
growth was significantly inhibited. Devlopment of insect was abstracted due to the
extracts of Cestrum sp. These plant extracts could be useful for controlling the store grain
pest T. castaneum and T. confusum.
duct system and the details of which are of taxonomic importance. It is therefore not surprising that the elucidations
of the structure, function and control of the reproductive activities in pulmonate have been of vital interest to
malacologists, ecologists and physiologists.
India. The medical records of thalassemia patients were reviewed. Present observational survey study, one hundred
twenty five clinically proved by their medical reports, cases of thalassemic children’s with age 6 months to 18 Years,
coming for to get blood transfusion from different parts of Solapur district. The Maximum patients were: 34(27.2%)
in the age group of 6 months to 3 years of age and minimum patients were: 10(8%) in both age group of 14-16 and
17-18 years age. The height and weight mean rage was higher in male than female thalassemic patients.
cadmium. The behavioral changes were more pronounced in summer and winter than in monsoon. The study
revealed that the mussels are more sensitive to cadmium toxicity in summer, while they are more resonated in winter.

one hundred twenty five clinically proved by their medical reports, cases of thalassemic children’s with age 6 months
to 18 Years, coming for to get blood transfusion from different parts of Solapur district. There was maximum number
of 98(98.4%) cases of Thalassemia major (TM) as compared to Beta thalassemia minor (BTMi) 10(8.0%), Beta
thalassemia intermedia (BTI) 16(12.8%) cases and Sickle cell thalassemia (SCT) 1(0.8%) was observed. No cases of
α thalassemia were observed in our research work.
survey was from in February 2011 to January 2012. Sixty five cestodes were collected from alimentary canals of 80
slaughtered birds, belongs to family Phasianidae. Cestode parasites were of Cyclophyllideans distributed mainly in
the families’ Davaineidae. This report summarized the data, demonstrates the utility of monitoring tapeworms in
birds to identify the risk of infection.

aminothiazole and R-substituted salicylaldehyde (R=H, 3-CH3, 3-Cl). The ligands (SB-1 to SB-3) were characterized
by elemental, spectral and XRD analysis. All the ligands (SB-1 to SB-3) evaluated for their in vitro nematicidal and
molluscicidal activities. They are active in very low concentration on plant parasitic nematode Meloidogyne javanica
and freshwater helminthiasis vector snail Lymnea auricularia. X-ray diffraction studies suggested a triclinic crystal
system for all Schiff bases
