This article is a summary of a group research describing the implementation of scientific approac... more This article is a summary of a group research describing the implementation of scientific approach in teaching English of Curriculum 2013 at SMPN 1 Pamekasan. Scientific approach is an approach focusing on investigation techniques on phenomena, getting new knowledge, or correcting and relating the previous knowledge. Scientific approach is a new approach in teaching English. This research has three study focuses that is: 1) How the English teachers of the seventh grade plan English learning process by using scientific approach 2) How the implemntation of scientific approach in teaching English of Curriculum 2013 at SMPN 1 Pamekasan 3) What problems or difficulties faced by the English teachers in implementing the scientific approach. The Research result shows the first, English teachers of the seventh grade at SMPN 1 Pamekasan plan their English learning process by writing the lesson plan first. Second, the implementation of scientific approach in teaching English of Curriculum 2013 at SMPN 1 Pamekasan on the first year does not run well. Third, most of English teachers of the seventh grade at SMPN 1 Pamekasan get difficulties in facilitating the students to ask and answer the questions to their friends or teacher. It means that the teachers still get difficulties in questioning step of scientific approach.
Abstrak: There are two problems in the result of research that will be discussed in this article.... more Abstrak: There are two problems in the result of research that will be discussed in this article. They are (1) how are the steps of the implementation of suggestopedia method in learning speaking English at the second semester students of E class TBI STAIN Pamekasan and (2) How are the increasing of speaking English skill for the second semester students of E class TBI STAIN Pamekasan in learning speaking English by using the suggestopedia method. The research method is classroom action research by using research strategy of Kemmis and Mc Taggert Model which consist of four (4) steps, namely planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of research provided that classically for the 1 st , 2 nd , and 3 rd cycle indicated the increasing of students learning completeness scores, each of them are 38.23%, 67.54%, and 82.35%. While the students performance for each aspects are increasing from the 1 st cycle up to 3 rd cycle. The students performance of speaking English activities in the classroom from each aspects that more appear was grammar with score 85.2%. for the 2 nd cycle was comprehensibility with score 88.2% and vocabulary with score 88.2%, and for the 3 rd cycle that more appear was fluency with score 91.2%. Besides, for the frequency percentage of students performance from each cycles are more increasing, by the 1 st cycle 55% (enough), the 2 nd cycle 70% (good), and the 3 rd cycle 85% (very good). Finally, the suggestopedia method in learning speaking English can increase the result of students learning. In fact, the students look like be enthusiastic in learning speaking English. The students were active to joint with this subject from each cycle. By the good atmosphere, conducive situation of the classroom, and soft music made the students to be relax in learning the subject. It also was increase imagination, concentration, and liveliness for the students.

One of the Among the breakthroughs of MTs Sumber Bungur Pamekasan as a formal educational institu... more One of the Among the breakthroughs of MTs Sumber Bungur Pamekasan as a formal educational institution that is trusted as a pilot school in the area of East Java religious ministry is the realization of the program in the field of Arabic language curriculum development. The purpose of this study was about to describe how the concept and development of the classroom curriculum model in Arabic subject at MTs Sumber Bungur Pamekasan, and what are the factors supporting and hindering the implementation of the curriculum. The research result shows that the class curriculum of Arabic subjects is basically develop the 2006 curriculum which emphasis on the needs of the community and the islamic boarding school. MTs Sumber Bungur Pamekasan develop classroom-based curriculum of the Arabic subjects that later termed as classroom curriculum of Arabic subjects. The Curriculum development model used is the central de-central, the curriculum development process that combines the two approaches, administrative and grass roots approach. Curriculum development is manifested in the additional hours of lessons and teaching materials, namely on subjects PAI and Arabic which was originally only 11 hours of lessons to 24 hours of lessons. The addition of the lesson period is used to examine the science nahwu, shorrof, hermeneutics (tafsir), and other classical holy books. The factors supporting the implementation of curriculum development are: 1) the Motivation by the Regional Office of the Religion Ministry of East Java, 2) the Principals Commitment, 3) Professional competence of the Arabic subjects classroom teachers, 4) The existence of Islamic boarding school sumber bungur as an institution that strengthens the learning process and 5) the students Input who have an initial understanding of the material that will be presented. While the inhibiting factors are: 1) No allocation of special funds, 2) There is inequality in the ability of teachers in curriculum development, 3) the prevalence of the teachers's ability in teaching Arabic, and 4) there are some students who feel bored when learning Arabic because of the many hours of lessons being presented.

In Indonesian context, English is still as foreign language and this becomes problem for them who want to learn it. The problem could be caused by the difficulty of the English itself, the learners' personality and the process in learning it. There are ample solutions to deal with those difficulties; however, the writer provides a solution as a proposal for motivating the learners; there are 8 keys to be possessed by the learners before they learn to speak English. They are (1) Listen up, (2) be good at imitating, (3) use the mouth, (4) check the voice, (5) have the motion, (6) smile, (7) thank God, and (8) love. The solution is as inner drive or instrinsic motivation for the learners and it can also be used by the teachers, tutors and lecturers as reference for motivatingthe learners in learning or in mastering English speaking.

In this research, the researcher used research & development (R&D) methodology with quantitative ... more In this research, the researcher used research & development (R&D) methodology with quantitative approach. There are four procedures in this research; namely (1) analyzing the situation of the usage of Arabic language needed by students, (2) developing a situational based syllabus for Arabic language teaching at the Arabic language center, (3) validating the product of syllabus that has been designed, (4) revising the product of syllabus having been designed that is appropriately used in Arabic language center. The result of this research is producing a situational based syllabus for Arabic language at the Arabic language center of Pesantren Darul Ulum Banyuanyar Pamekasan Madura which has been validated by three experts in the field of Arabic language teaching curriculum. After that, the syllabus product is presented before the director and all teachers to get their approval that this curriculum design is able to be appropriately used at Arabic language center. To approve this syllabus design, they answered questions on the questionnaire given by the researcher, that 90-100% of each point of the questionnaire related to the appropriateness of the syllabus was answered. As the result, developing a situational based syllabus for Arabic language teaching having been designed by the researcher is appropriate to be implemented in Arabic language center of Pesantren Darul Ulum Banyuanyar Pamekasan Madura.
This article is about to describe a research result on the study of language maintenance efforts ... more This article is about to describe a research result on the study of language maintenance efforts planned by Pamekasan (a district in Madura island). This study is considered urgent due to a fact that Madurese (language spoken by Madura people) have been gradually left by the speakers. Three questions are purposed as the research focus, they are 1) how local government of Pamekasan use instructional field to maintain Madurese language; 2) how local government of Pamekasan use media to maintain Madurese language; and 3) how local government of Pamekasan use linguists to maintain Madurese language. This research is qualitative in design. The results show that the local government of Pamekasan put Madurese language as a subject in local schools that is mandatorily taught; it is also exclusively discussed in any formal forums about curriculum development; the local government also conducts in-house training programs for the Madurese language teachers.
The phenomenon of a shift in the language usage at Madura Island, especially in the district of S... more The phenomenon of a shift in the language usage at Madura Island, especially in the district of Sumenep worrying increasingly. Based on the phenomenon, this study aimed to describe the shift in the use of Madurese language which focuses on changes of its function and role and also the factors that cause a shift in daily interactions among children of state elementary schools at Pangarangan village¸Sumenep. This study is a descriptive survey using questionnaires and interviews. To measure the indicators of the level of the language usage shifting among elementary school children, the data analysis focused on four main situations which become the domain of language usage inside and outside the school environment, namely (1) the social sphere of interactional situations outside the classroom, (2) the social sphere interactional situation inside the classroom, (3) the social sphere of interactional situation inside the school environment, and (4) the social sphere of interactional situation outside the school environment. The sample consisted of 221 respondents representing four primary schools at Pangarangan village in Sumenep district. The research shows that there has been a shift in the use of Madurese language in four main domains situation among elementary school children at Pangarangan village, Sumenep, in the amount of 0.47; 0.45; 0.5 .; and 0.53. Based on those results it can be concluded that primary school children at Pangarangan village, prefers to use two languages equally between Madurese and Indonesian, since, they feel that it is more comfortable to use both Madurese and Indonesian. The research results provide information that the position and function of Madurese is having a shift. Madurese has no longer serves as the primary means of communication in the public elementary school children at Pangarangan village in the district of Sumenep. Madurese in accordance with its function as a language also no longer serve as a means to express the users' feelings, thoughts or ideas. Therefore, it is necessary to have efforts to reduce the rate of this shift in order to remain sustainable Madurese language.
