Especially, when it comes to the integration of children in need of care and protection with the main stream society, character formation plays a great role. Thus character formation requires a particular set of strategies for developing positive character in these children living in residential care homes. However, only few works have been carried out to investigate adequately the character formation strategies for children in need for care and protection and to assess their contribution in the development of institutionalized children. This work examines the strategies applied by selected organisations to promote positive character among the children and the process of applying it. Further, it looks into the contribution of these strategies for the development of children.

Children are supposed to be the future of a nation and therefore social work professionals gives utmost importance to the welfare of institutionalized children. A character, therefore, consists of a set of values that we possess, and these values in turn, produce specific moral emotions in us, inform our motivations for doing things, and guide our conduct. Character education is more than just a subject. It needs to be nurtured and practised. It has a strong place in our culture and also in the smooth functioning of families. Character education is about helping students understand what is morally essential in situations, and to act according to the circumstances. So that they decide wisely and develop positive character traits in them. Children living in Child care homes are marginalised and lack proper parental care and they are provided with just basic necessities. Not enough effort is taken to nourish positive character among them. This study therefore tries to understand the need perception of both residential child care home functionaries’ and institutionalised children for character education programmes. Outcomes of the study clearly points out the need of programmes to develop positive character among the children in care.

Most of the changes the changes are physical and if we are not able to help them to understand these changes, it may influence then negatively. The current paper evaluates the pre-marital sexual anxiety among adolescents. To evaluate the pre-marital sexual anxiety, a small scale empirical research conducted amongst adolescents studying in various organisations. In the conclusion one will find a discussion of the relevant research findings which showed that sexual anxiety was significantly high among females.

Lack of proper social skills will definitely influence the capacity of children to face the challenges of life and therefore eventually lead towards increase in metal health problems in them.
The current paper presents the views of social workers working in various child care homes in the state of Kerala, regarding the development of social skills in children towards positive mental health. Their views were examined through a small scale empirical research conducted amongst practitioners of various organisations.
In the conclusion one will find a discussion of the relevant research findings which showed that a high percentage of the research subjects believe that development of Communication, Leadership, Flexibility and Adaptability skills, are very important for moulding better citizens of a nation.
