Kurt Weill
Kurt Julian Weill (2. mart 1900[1] – 3. april 1950[1]) bio je njemačko-jevrejski kompozitor, koji je od 1930-ih djelovao u SAD. Napisao je niz scenskih djela, a najpoznatiji je po plodnoj suradnji sa tekstopiscem i poznatim dramatičarom Bertoltom Brechtom. Sa njime je stvorio niz mjuzikala, od kojih se najviše ističe Opera za tri groša, marksističku kritiku kapitalizma u obliku mjuzikla, koja sadrži popularnu baladu "Mack the Knife". Weill je po svojim uvjerenjima bio socijalist [2] i smatrao da idealna muzika mora imati društveno korisnu svrhu.[3] Također je pisao klasičnu muziku, kao i nekoliko djela sa judaističkim temama.
