Michael Cook retired from a career in the semiconductor/chip industry in which he had a broad range of functions, including computer chip design, process research and development, and engineering and technical marketing management. He was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2009, and since then has directed his research and mathematical skills to Lyme and tickborne diseases. He has authored or coauthored seven papers in medical journals. The first was in 2015 on the transmission of Lyme disease, and subsequent papers were on the accuracy of commercial test kits using meta-analysis and Bayesian statistics. His recent work includes developing models for the incidence and prevalence of Lyme disease in various countries and continents.
