Abstract In 2008 a Starting Grant project supported by the European Research Council
titled" Nuclear reaction studies relevant to the astrophysical p-process nucleosynthesis" was
launched. After five years of successful research related to the experimental investigation of
proton-and alpha-induced nuclear reaction for the astrophysical p-process, the project came
to an end. In this paper a summary of the research and the most important achievements is
given.
