A downloadable adventure

A cozy adventure about solving an ecological problem. Algal Bloom can be used with any solarpunk, postapocalyptic, or universal RPG system. Try Roots & Flowers, Eco-Mofos!!, Fury Road Trip, ENDS, RAGS, Apocalypse World, GURPS After the End, Savage Worlds, Sad Press SRDs, or any game in the Applied Hope games jam. With a little imagination you could use it with D&D, The Quiet Year, Wanderhome, or Kampala Yénkya Multiverse. It also goes very well with the Heterotopia Hooks sourcebook.

Algal Bloom is on hold indefinitely, but maybe there's enough there to inspire you. Solving the ecological problem could be the focus of the session, or it could be something bubbling along in the background (maybe the PCs pass through Hickory Hills on a chase or a quest, and happen to hear about the community's problems).

What's not there yet?

  • Scientific accuracy. I'm not a biologist / ecologist / botanist / phycologist, or any -ist or even an -ish.
  • The "Paper Mill" and "Substation" locations are very sketchy.
  • The three characters are not yet real characters, just lists of things they might suggest.
  • I imagine the future beginning to have its own names for things, so it would be great to translate some of the more scientific / technical terminology into a new near future poetry.
  • I guess some pictures or more maps would be nice.
