Lacewings (Chrysopidae: Neuroptera) are predatory insects, widely used in biological control programs. Between them green lacewing is a promising biological control agent of pests in green houses and crop fields. In this study, gravid females of the green lacewing Chrysoperla lucasina (Lacroix) were captured from Sarepolzahab ( altitude 540m, latitude 34 degrees ,14' N 46 degrees, 9' E) in western part of Iran. Collected insects were reared in a growth chamber, under experimental conditions (25 +/- 1 degrees C, 70 +/- 5% RH and a photoperiod of 16:8 L: D). Different diets were offered to larvae which consisted of a whitefly species B. tabaci, an aphid Myzus persica and also lyophilized powder of drone honeybee (Apis melifera). As different foods were used to nurish larvae, so for each diet, mean larval period were calculated, and finally means were compared to each other. Anova in MSTAT-C was used for analysis of variance, and Duncan multiple range test (DMRT) to compare between means. The results showed that larvae had maximum duration of 27 +/- 0.33 days when fed on honeybee lyophilized powder and the minimum value was 17.9 +/- 0.3 days for B. tabaci. 25 +/- 0.27 day recorded for M. persicae. Food preference of the 3rd instar larvae of green lacewing was surveyed, they showed a food preference to M. persicae, to compare with B. tabaci, as the former has a bigger body size, so more easily to be captured by the predator larvae. The 3rd instar larvae of lacewing were more voracious on preys, than the 1st or the 2nd instar larvae. Statistically speaking, there were a significantly difference when mean of different preys consumed by predator larvae were compared. We found, that when the predator larvae have fed on B. tabaci, their development time was shorter, and when arrived to adult stage, the adults showed, an improved fertility. The results indicated that the suitable prey not only can increase the rate of through accelerating developmental stages of the predator and by means of an increase in its pupal body weight consequently promoting the fecundity of resulting adults, but also can alter predators population density in relation to own production numbers.

Nine concentrations of spinosad, 50,100, 250, 400,550,700,850,1000 and 1200 ppm were used for bioassay. Concerning L.serricorne, LC50, was 609.34 mg(ai/L) after 24h and diminished to 272.5 mg(ai/L) after 72h of exposure and for T. confusum, LC50, was 343.05mg(ai/L) after 24 h and decreased to 182.92 mg(ai/L), after 72 h, of exposure.

The objective of this study was to determine the genetic diversity among Chrysoperla carnea sampl... more The objective of this study was to determine the genetic diversity among Chrysoperla carnea samples collected from different locations of Iran (including, East-Azerbaijan, West-Azerbaijan, Isfahan, Kerman, Kermanshah, Lorestan, Mazandaran, Gilan, Hormozgan and Hamedan provinces) using the Inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) and mitochondrial (Cytochrome Oxidase I - COI) molecular markers in 2016-2018. The results showed that a total of 64 bands were produced by ten primers of ISSR markers which among them 43 bands were polymorphic. The highest and lowest polymorphic percentages belonged to primer UBC-809 (88.88%) and primer UBC-886 (33.33%), respectively. The results of cluster analysis based on ISSR marker data divided the samples into three separate clusters. This grouping was also confirmed by analysis of molecular variance. New records of P. turcicus and other species of P. libelluloides species group from the countries of Transcaucasia, Asia, and Africa are presented based on the collection of the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ZIN). In the P. libelluloides species group, P. libelluloides is characterized by yellow abdomen with brown longitudinal lines. Abdominal pattern of P. hispanus Hagen, 1860, P. aeshnoides (Illiger, 1807) and P. turcicus is represented by brown rings on each segment, but these species can be easily differentiated from each other by size. The aim of the current study was to investigate the effect of seed proteinous extracts from different varieties of wheat ( Triticum aestivum var Bezostaya, Gaspard and Darab) on the α-amylase activity of Sunn Pest. To achieve this goal, adult insects were dissected and each insect's gut was removed and their amylase enzyme was extracted. Proteins of wheat were extracted using 0.1 M NaCl. The effect of proteinaceous extracts on α-amylase activity both as an enzymatic assay and as a gel assay using zymogram was performed. Inhibition percentages were recorded for the Bezostaya and Gaspard and Darab wheat varieties which were (73%), (%63) and (33%), respectively.

In this study, the genetic diversity of different Iranian honey bee populations was evaluated using inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers. During May to September 2014, 108 young worker honey bees were collected from six different populations in 30 different geoclimatic locations from Golestan, Mazendaran, Guilan, West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Ardebil provinces of Iran. DNA was extracted from the worker honey bees. The quality and quantity of extracted DNA were measured. A set of ten primers were screened with the laboratory populations of honey bees. The number of fragments produced in the different honey bee populations varied from 3 to 10, varying within 150 to 1500 bp. The male of Eustigmaeus segnis (Koch) from soil and litter under walnut trees (Rijab region, Kermanshah province) is described and Eustigmaeus rhodomela (Koch) (from mosses in Uormia vicinity, Western Azerbaijan province) is re-described and reported for the first time from Iran. A key to all known species of Eustigmaeus in Iran is presented.
