Krzysztof Zdunek
I work as a professor at the Warsaw University of Technology in the Faculty of Materials Engineering, Poland. Materials science is my scientific discipline. However, I specialize mainly in plasma surface engineering. As part of this specialization, I am particularly interested in high power pulsed plasma processes. Examples of my work are two original plasma surface engineering methods known in the literature as Impulse Plasma Deposition (IPD) and Gas Injection Magnetron Sputtering (GIMS). The IPD method was developed in the early 1980s for the production of DLC coatings with a high content of sp3 bonds (t-aC). The IPD method has been implemented in the Polish machine industry for the production of anti-abrasive coatings on cutting tools. The GIMS method was developed 10 years ago. A few years ago, it was implemented in one of the largest Polish companies for the production of transparent colored protective coatings on large-area glass.
