Automatic Llama - the good art is here. The other kind is in the Saatchi gallery.
Black Sheep Insomniac - an old school homepage with thoughts and glittery stars. Hella cute.
bees laugh in atbash - weird and wonderful illustration, fluid style.
Brennholzbude - I feel like this is a real person although on the Internet it is, of course, impossible.
Imaginings - short stories that remind me that I can't write description.
K7 - a person thinks, then writes it down. Black on white but not necessarily black and white.
joppiesaus - a vortex of pizza leads to perfectly structured thoughts on the environment.
No Happy Nonsense - a site that's worked out that the constant state of flux is the only honest way to exist.
pastelshoal - so much zen I don't even care if it never gets updated.
Reading Project - does what it says on the tin. I'm just really happy this exists
retrospectivist - a site with a strong mood. I'm feeling it.
Quarantine Zine Club - my favourite is "I've never seen Buffy until I watched episode 7 of season 5 ten times in 17 hours".
Unimaginable Heights - a site that contains everything there is. Or what I hope to have if I actually organised.
The Satyr's Forest - the bottomless pit of treasures, I aspire to this word count.
The web site of myzelien - unworkable with my cheap broadband but worth the suffering.

Bellingcat - investigative journalism, probably best out there for digital investigation.
Financial Times - see the note on The Economist.
Foreign Policy - global but through a US lens.
openDemocracy- actually does what it says on the tin.
Politico - UK edition, London Playbook is like a soap opera for politix junkies.
Prospect - current affairs magazine that The Guardian's Alan Rusbridger moved on to.
The Atlantic - this is the global edition.
The Economist - firewalled; biz uber alles but can still be a good read if you read critically.
The Guardian - UK edition. Not as good as it used to be but still pretty damn good.
The New Statesman - UK / global.
The New York Times - firewalled but keeps offering £1/£2 pcm memberships when trying to cancel.
The Washington Post - US (obviously) + possibly the best tagline out there.
The Week - UK edition.

Hope Project - a refugee assistance project on Lesvos founded by the Kempson family.
Stop the arms fair - does what it says on the tin, London-based.
Migrant voice - a UK charity.
Anarchist schools of thought - a wiki article.
LeftValues - a quiz to challenge your views and see what sort of socialist you are.
The Everyday Sexism Project - depressing but necessary.
Everyone's Invited - rape survivor testimonies. Even more depressing, also necessary.
Active Distribution - zines, books, badges, Zapatista coffee (UK).
198 Methods of Nonviolent Action - for when you leave your brucking stick at home.
Voting record - for the suspension of the rights of membership of the Russian Federation in the Human Rights Council.
