  • Do you currently have shell access (Yes/No)? Yes (see below)
  • Purpose (Specify which service you need to get access to, e.g. Icinga, Grafana, Superset etc): Extend period of existing access to Superset, Jupyter, Hive, Druid, DB replicas, membership in analytics-privatedata-users, ssh login access to analytics client servers, Kerberos, all for data analysis as part of my new contract with the Wikimedia Deutschland Wikidata Integration Team, for work on metrics about Wikidata usage on WMF wikis.
  • The specific LDAP group that you want to be added to (optional): wmde, or if appropriate and easier, continued membership in wmf.

For contractors only:

  • Contract end date: July 30, 2024
  • Contract contact person: @WMDECyn

Details:

  • I already have all the access I need. My present contract with the WMF expires on June 30, 2024, however, I also need access for my new contract, with WMDE, until July 30, 2024.

Thanks so so much in advance and apologies for the bother!!

Event Timeline

I approve the request on WMDE's behalf

@AndyRussG Can you please confirm the new end date? I assume you meant July 30, 2024, correct?

Ooops yeah thanks! (Also fixed the task description.) (Also, how did it get to be 2024 already!?! ;) )

As per the process at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/SRE/Clinic_Duty/Access_requests#WMDE_Group , we need confirmation from an engineering manager. @WMDE-leszek would you mind confirming this request please?

I approve.
@kamila: We have failed to inform you about staff changes at WMDE. @WMDECyn is also an Engineering Manager at WMDE since February. I'll edit the linked page, hopefully the edit coming from WMDE is fine.

The update to approvers for WMDE would be in T367914

Change #1047473 had a related patch set uploaded (by Kamila Součková; author: Kamila Součková):

[operations/puppet@production] Extend access for AndyRussG

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/1047473

@AndyRussG since you're now with WMDE, we'd like to update your email, can you please let me know your @wikimedia.de email address?

Heyyy @Dzahn and @kamila, thanks so much for the help, and huge apology for the delay in replying!!

I was sick for a few days last week and it took me while to get to requesting the WMDE e-mail address. (I don't have one yet, but it seems one can be assigned, even for a short contract like this.)

I'll keep you posted, and many apologies and thanks so much once again :)

Hey @AndyRussG No worries, and hope you are well / feeling better. There is no particular rush here. We have a couple days until this expires and even then it will just notify us and not automatically deactivate your access.

Also I think we could change the date and expiry contact separately if needed.

Hello @KFrancis Andy is a special case since he moved from WMF staff to WMDE. If he was WMF staff we wouldn't have to do a separate NDA process since it's included but for WMDE staff we would have to do that. I am wondering if we can and should add him to the NDA spreadsheet with other WMDE employees.

hello @Dzahn , @AndyRussG WMDE email address is: andrew.green@extern.wikimedia.de in case this is still required.

Dzahn removed AndyRussG as the assignee of this task.

Change #1047473 merged by Volans:

[operations/puppet@production] admin: Extend access for AndyRussG

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/1047473

Volans claimed this task.
Volans subscribed.

This should be all done, resolving. Please feel free to re-open it if you encounter any issue.

I went ahead and processed an NDA here. It's just better to have our bases covered. I'll confirm when it's complete.

Volans moved this task from Code Review Pending to NDA Pending on the LDAP-Access-Requests board.

@AndyRussG Sorry to bother you again, I had forgot one small detail yesterday. As you now have an external email I had to remove you from the wmf LDAP group but I can add you to the nda one as soon as the NDA process is completed.
Also for consistency could you please use the same wikimedia.de email address in the LDAP account (currenty has a gmail.com address).

hi @Volans, @KFrancis!

I received the the NDA at my WMDE address and signed it.

I also updated my e-mail address on https://idm.wikimedia.org (though the change hasn't yet propagated to Wikitech).

Indeed I'm now unable to log in to JupyterHub, where I have been working, so if it's possible to get that back soon, that'd be fantastic. Thanks and really sorry for the bother. ;)

Also many apologies for all the bother in general with these changes, and thanks so so much for the help!!!

@AndyRussG thanks, I've got your updated email on LDAP and added your user to the nda group. I think you should have again access.
Leaving the task open for now just for confirmation of the finalization of the NDA process and confirmation your access works again.

Thanks, @Volans. I can confirm that I have access to JupyterHub again, yaaaayyyy ;)

There was an issue where I had to re-send the document. Just waiting on Andy to sign now.

Thanks Katie!

@Volans looks to me this can be resolved now.

Thanks again for all the help!! :)
