There will be a new release of wdio-mediawiki soon(™) after T234002: Make MediaWiki Wdio tests less slow (Sept 2019) is done. This will include support for wdio 5 and some API changes that might affect us.

acceptance criteria

• remove our wdio5 workarounds
• update our code for any API changes in the new wdio-mediawiki release

notes

• see if there are any new fixes/patterns/functionality in the new release that we could use to improve our selenium tests
• see if we need to adjust for the potentially removed default video support and have to add a npm run selenium-video command somewhere
