IMPROVEMENT IN EAVES-TROUGH HANGERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,457, dated July 2, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
I, HENRY S. Brsnor, of Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Eaves-Trough Hanger, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of this invention relates to the manner of making the hanger adjustable to adapt the trough to the required pitch to insure the flow of water; also, in the manner of clamping the edges of the trough, so as to insure a firm hold on the same without injury to the tin, as hereinafter described.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a side view of the hanger with a section of trough attached.
A is the upper half of the clamp, which is cast of metal, and is provided with hooks on each end for claspiu g the tin. The hook on the rear end is curved in such a manner that the tin is formed into a curve, fitting tightly between the two hooks, and is held firmly as in a vise, without cutting, punching, or bruising the tin, which is caught in between them when the lower half of the clamp B is turned into place on the pivot c. The hooks of the lower half of the clamp B extend downward a short distance, thus forming a perfect brace. D is an upward-projecting arm attached to the upper part of the clamp A, and is provided with a series of ratchet-teeth on one side. To the strap E, which is to be secured to the roof of the house, is attached a piece of metal, 0, also having a series of ratchet-teeth. Fis a sleeve, which being slipped over the two ratchet-bars, clamps them firmly together, making a firm joint capable of being adjusted at various heights. The sides of the bars D and 6 being slightly tapering the sleeve F must fit closely and is not liable to become loosened by any jarring or otherwise.
I claim- I The ratchet-bars D and e, the sleeve F, and
strap E, in combination with the clamps A B,
substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
Witnesses: HENRY S. BISHOP.
