Abstract

PURPOSE: To treat waste water efficiently by adding ferrous salt and H2O2 thereto and oxidizing the same.
CONSTITUTION: Ferrous salt and H2O2 are added to waste water contg. hypophosphorous acid to oxidize the same, by which COD is reduced and the subsequent waste water treatments such as biological treatment for BOD can be accomplished freely. FeCl2, FeSO4, (NH4)2Fe(SO4), etc. are used for the ferrous salt, and the amt. of addition is 100W500ppm. The amt. of addition of H2O2 is 1W2 times the content of the hypophosphorous acid in waste water. It is preferable to control the pH of the waste water to be treated to 3W5.
