Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate for organic syntheses, in high yild, by oxidizing an α-silyl group-substituted sulfide compound with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a V-group or VI-group transition metal oxide or its hydrate.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula II (R1 is alkyl or aryl; R2 and R3 are H, silyl, alkyl, etc.; R4WR6 are Cl, alkyl or aryl) is prepared by oxidizing an α-silyl group-substituted sulfide compound of formulaIwith hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a V-group transition metal oxide (e.g. vandaium oxide) or a VI-group transition metal oxide or its hydrate (e.g. tungsten oxide, tungsten oxide-hydrate). The amount of the metal oxide or its hydrate is 0.01W 0.2mol equivalent based on the compound of formulaI, and the reaction is carried out preferably in the presence of a solvent at 0°CW room temperature.
