Abstract

PURPOSE:To write correct data always to a magnetic disc, by making error check and correction for write-in data just after data write-in at the magnetic disc. CONSTITUTION:After data are written with a write/read head WRH, the same data is read out with a read-only-head ROH immediately. This data is written in a register R4, checked at an ECC checker 9 and compared with a data in a register R2 at a comparison circuit 8. When error is detected by the ECC checker 9 and a comparison circuit 11 detects error also, an error processing circuit 10 makes indication for rewrite-in (a) and alternate selector. After the indication is made, a write control circuit 2 is operative, and the data in the register R2 and the ECC based on its written in the alternate selector.
