Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the run-on by a method wherein a throttle valve is moved towards the direction to close the suction passage narrower than the opening held at the idling operation and the air-fuel ratio of the mixture is changed towards the lean side after an engine key switch is turned OFF.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided a control unit 12 with a built-in micro-computer which moves the throttle valve 13 toward the direction to close the suction passage narrower than the opening held at the idling operation and changes the air-fuel ratio of the mixture towards the lean side after the engine key switch is turned OFF. According to the control program of the micro-computer; in the first step, when the key switch is turned OFF, the timing means utilizing, for example, an abating counter is started the operation to keep the power source necessary for the control operation of ECC including the unit 12 from being OFF as long as the means is in operation; in the next step, a motor 20 in a throttle actuator 7 is supplied with a reversing pulse to bring the opening of the throttle valve 13 to the prescribed opening narrower than the opening at the idling operation; in the final step, the ON duty of a idle actuator is put to 100% and the ON duty of a main actuator to 0% to bring the air-fuel ratio of the mixture to lean condition such as 17W18.
