本発明は飲料水を紫外線ランプにより殺菌する紫外線殺
菌装置に関するものであり、特に被殺菌流体の流れをコ
ントロールするための整流板を備えた流水殺菌装置に関

(従来の技術)
従来、紫外線流水殺菌装置には、紫外線ランプとして高
圧ランプ、中圧ランプ、及び低圧ランプなどを使用した
ものがあった。高圧ランプ、中圧ランプを使ったものは
紫外線の出力を大きくできるので大容量の流体を殺菌処
理できるが、ランプが大きかったり、ランプの温度が高
くなるために冷却が必要であった。そのため装置が大き
くなるという欠点があった。一方、低圧ランプを用いた
装置ではランプの冷却が不必要であるので、その分コン
パクト化が図れるが、出力が小さいため、大容量の流体

上記の目的を達成するため本発明は、紫外線ランプを有
する殺菌装置において、筒状の容器の中心に紫外線ラン
プを配置し、かつ前記紫外線ランプの周囲を被殺菌水を
旋回せしめるための整流板を備えたことを特徴とする紫

次に操作について説明すると、飲料水は流入口4より装
置内に送られ、紫外線ランプ3の周囲を仕切板と邪魔板

ない紫外線殺菌装置を用いて、紫外線ランプ点灯と同時
に枯草菌と太陽菌を含む水を通水して殺菌処理を行った
。10秒毎に流出口5から採取された殺菌処理水の菌数
を寒天プレート法により計数して殺菌率の評価を行った

本発明は、上述のように、被殺菌流体が装置内を短絡し
て流れないように、被殺菌流体を紫外線ランプの周囲を
旋回して流すための整流板を紫外線ランプの周囲に設け
ることにより、紫外線が流体へ殺菌処理に有効な時間照
射されるので、紫外線殺菌装置をコンパクトにすること
