Abstract
Alumina-silica systems with or without other refractory oxides are fluxed with not more than 30 per cent by weight of barium oxide and titania in proportions equivalent to barium titanate. The other oxides described are magnesia, ceria and zirconia. A temporary binder, e.g. gum arabic may be included. A glaze may be applied to articles made by the process by adding e.g. borax to a mixture of the oxides and coating the articles therewith and firing. A two stage firing is described for the articles themselves.
