Abstract
415,455. Hair clippers. MATTHES, E. C., 8, Gottschedstrasse, Leipsic, Germany. Feb. 22, 1933, No. 5445. Convention date, March 26, 1932. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 25, 1933.] [Class 131.] In hair clippers of the kind comprising two superposed toothed plates, one of which is reciprocatable over the other, non-cutting gaps or recesses are provided in the sides of the cutting edges of the teeth of one or both of the plates, whereby portions of the hair are left uncut. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the stationary plate a and the movable plate hare provided with teeth a<1>, h<1> respectively, the teeth h<1> normally lying over the teeth a<1> and coacting, when moved to cutting position, with the adjacent teeth a<1>. The plate h may be provided, (as shown), with half as many teeth, or with the same number of teeth, as the plate a. The teeth h<1> are provided with recesses x in the sides of the cutting edges, and may be provided with recesses u on the faces contacting with the teeth a<1>, the recesses u opening into the recesses h<1>. The recesses adjacent the roots of the teeth are wider than the recesses farther away. The recesses may extend only a short distance across the sides of the teeth and may be produced by rounding off the cutting edges. Similar recesses may be formed on the teeth a<1>, recesses z formed by cutting away the edge portions of the teeth being shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Specifications 201,566, 265,347, [both in Class 131], and 398,969 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a hair clipper in which the teeth are semi-circular in cross-section and have cutting edges on both sides, the movable teeth normally occupying a position midway between the stationary teeth and cutting being effected by movement of the movable plate in both directions. The movable plate may be operated by a crank. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
