Abstract

1,247,143. Filling bags; hoppers. HAVER & BOECKER. 19 Feb., 1970, No. 8112/70. Headings B8C and B8S. [Also in Division G1] A movable gate 11 varies the flow of material from a hopper 1 to a valve bag 8 under the control of a bag weighing device so that the flow is cut from a maximum to a dribble feed when the bag is nearly full and then cut off completely when the bag is full. The gate 11 has a feed aperture and slides between two fixed apertured plates 10 and 13 which are biased together by adjustable springs 12. Material flows from the gate through a flexible tube 6 to a filling nozzle 7. Feed gate operation.-The gate is moved by a piston 24 in a cylinder 16. At the commencement of feed, the weighing device acts through a microswitch to admit compressed air to an opening 20 so that the piston 24 is moved upwardly to a full feed position in which it is arrested by the abutment of a further piston 25 against the top of the cylinder. When the bag is nearly full, the compressed air supply is transferred to an opening 21 so that the piston 25 is moved downwardly to a position determined by adjustable nuts 34 and 35 thus moving the piston 24 to a dribble feed position. When the bag is full the compressed air supply is switched to an opening 17 so that the piston 24 is fully depressed to close the feed gate.
