1,203,845. Photographic silver halide developing agents. EASTMAN KODAK CO. July 2, 1968 [July 13, 1967], No.31519/68. Addition to 1,143,674. Heading G2C. [Also in Division C2C] Photographic silver halide developing solutions and photographic silver halide light-sensitive elements contain as on developing agent a bridged 5:8-dihydro-1:2 -dihydroxynaphthalene or bridged 5:6:7:8-tetrahydro-1:2-dihydroxynaphthalene, especially those of the formula: - where R and R<SP>1</SP> are each H, alkyl, aryl, -OH, alkoxy, -SO 3 H, halogen, amino, this or a heterocyclic group; R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> are each H, aryl or alkyl and X is O, CH 2 or C 2 H 4 which may be substituted. When the compounds are present in the elements they also behave as antifoggants.
