Abstract

The partial prosthesis is used surgically to replace a knee joint and comprises a metal femoral plate (4) curved to suit the plane (14, 15) of the joint. It has a rectangular projection (5) with rounded ends, inserted (7) into a rectangular socket (6) of plastic fixed into the end of the femural bone (12). The plate bears against a circular pad (8) of plastic having its top surface curved to suit the plate. A circular projection (9) on the underside of the pad is inserted (11a) into a separate circular flanged metal socket (11) fixed into the end of the tibial bone (13).
