Abstract

In a heat exchanger consisting of a stack of plates, sepd. from one another so that flow passages are formed between them, the plate at each level is formed by >=2 smaller plates laid edge to edge and slightly sepd. from each other. The edges are joined by an adhesive elastic sealant which is also used to separate the plates at one level from those at adjacent levels. Used in heat exchangers for corrosive media at comparatively high temps. (i.e. up to 250 degrees C). The assembly is flexible and absorbs the thermal expansion of the plates. Such exchangers can be produced on automatic machines.
