Die herkömmlichen Mülltonnen für biologischen Abfall besitzen einen Deckel, der die Mülltonnen fast luftdicht abschließt. Dadurch entsteht Geruchsbelästigung und Madenbefall aufgrund von Hitzeentwicklung beim Verotten. Dieses Problem soll mit dem siebförmigen Zusatzschutzdeckel gelöst werden. Der siebförmige Zusatzschutzdeckel besteht aus einem Rahmen, dessen Form durch die Öffnung der jeweiligen Müllgefäßgroße bestimmt wird.Der Rahmen liegt dadurch paßgenau auf dem Rand des Müllgefäßes. Die Bespannung des Rahmens besteht aus einem siebförmigen Gitter, maximale Lochgröße 1 qmm. Am Zusatzschutzdeckel ist ein Abstandshalter (3) angebracht, auf dem der eigentliche Deckel des Müllgefäßes aufliegt und durch diese Öffnung die Entlüftung gewährleistet ist. Um das Eindringen von Regen zu vermeiden, ist eine maximale Öffnung des Müllgefäßdeckels von 6 cm vorgesehen. Der Zusatzschutzdeckel kann entweder lediglich auf die Müllgefäßöffnung gelegt werden und wird dann beim Befallen wieder aufgelegt. Er'kann auch mittels einer Bespannung fest mit dem Gefäßdeckel verbunden werden und wird dann beim Öffnen des Gefäßdeckels jeweils mitangehoben.Conventional garbage cans for organic waste have a lid that makes the garbage can almost airtight.
