The invention relates to a box made of multi-layer cardboard, in particular a folding box, with a rectangular base, a corresponding top and side walls angled from the top, connecting the base to the top, wherein a tear-open window is arranged in the top.

A folding box of this type with relatively low side walls and a large tear-open window arranged in the top is known from DE-GM 92 16 583. Such folding boxes are used in particular for holding confectionery. The tear-open window in the top of the folding box is formed by a perforation cut that is essentially U-shaped.

The present invention is based on the object of installing a large tear-open window in the top of a box, in particular a folding box, which on the one hand seals the box tightly and on the other hand can be opened easily and reliably with a constant tearing force, whereby the box also has sufficient stability when opened.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that a large tear-open window formed by counter-scoring is arranged in the cover, which is hinged to a side wall at a first edge and has a tab on the opposite second edge for tearing open the window, wherein the counter-scoring is composed of an outer cutting line introduced from the outside of the cover and cutting through only part of the wall thickness of the box and an inner cutting line running parallel to it at a short distance, offset towards the middle of the cover, introduced from the inside of the cover and cutting through the remaining part of the wall thickness of the box, and wherein the outer cutting line forms stiffening corner areas at a distance

starting from the corners of the first edge, diagonally to the parallel edges and along these edges to a distance just before the corners of the second edge and then diagonally to this second edge on both sides of the tab.

The flap formed by a cut that completely separates the cardboard on one edge of the box is easy to grasp so that the window can be easily torn open. The layers of the cardboard, which is made of two or more fleece layers, separate in the narrow area between the outer cutting line and the inner cutting line.

In a folding box with a rectangular cross-section, the tear-open window can be arranged so that the tab is on one narrow edge of the box and the hinge connection of the tear-open window is on the other narrow edge. However, it is also possible to arrange the tab on one long side and the hinge connection on the other long side of the rectangular box so that the sides of the window run along the short sides of the box.

Fig. 1 shows a cardboard blank for a folding box according to Fig. 4. The folding box has a rectangular base 1, a correspondingly rectangular top 2 and side walls 3, 4, 5 and 6 angled downwards from the top 2, which connect the top to the base 1. Three inner side walls 23, 25 and 26 can be angled upwards from the base 1 and glued to the outer side walls 3, 5 and 6. Sealing tabs 21 and 22 are provided in a known manner to seal the corners. A large tear-open window 9 formed by counter-scoring 7, 8 is arranged in the top 2, which is hingedly connected to a side wall 3 at a first edge 10 and has a tab 18 on the opposite second edge 11 for tearing open the window 9. The counter-scoring is made up of an outer cutting line 7, which is introduced from the outside of the cover 2 and cuts through only part of the wall thickness of the box, and an inner cutting line 8, which runs parallel to it at a short distance, e.g. 2 or 3 mm, offset towards the middle of the cover 2, introduced from the inside of the cover 2 and cuts through the remaining part of the wall thickness of the box. To form stiffening corner areas, the outer cutting line 7 and thus also the inner cutting line 8 are led diagonally outwards to the parallel edges 12, 13 at a distance from the corners 14, 15 of the first edge 10 and then along these edges 12, 13 to a distance just before the corners 16, 17 of the second edge 11 and then diagonally to this second edge 11 on both sides of the flap 18. The tab 18 is formed by a cut 19 that completely separates the cardboard, into which the outer cutting line 7 of the counter-scoring flows.

The side wall 6 adjacent to the second edge 11 is provided with a U-shaped cutout that cuts through the side wall 6 to form a tongue connected to the tab 18. When the tear-open window 9 is torn open, this cut-out tongue is lifted off the edge 11 with the tab 18. When the tab 18 is lifted off further, the counter-scoring 7, 8 between the fleece layers of the cardboard tears open until the torn-open window 9 is only hingedly connected to the side wall 3 at the edge 10.

In the embodiment according to Fig. 1, the cutting lines of the counter-scoring, starting from both sides of the flap 18, run at an angle of 15 to 30° to the parallel edges 12, 13 of the box.

Three of the four side walls are reinforced by inner side walls 23, 25 and 26 which are angled from the floor 1.

In the folding box according to Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, the hinged connection of the tear-open window 9' with a side wall 3' is arranged on a long side of the box. The outer cutting line 7' of the counter-scoring accordingly runs along the short sides of the box. Through perforation cuts 28 in the side wall 3', the perforation cuts 28 can also be opened when the tear-open window 9' is torn open, so that the window 9' is hingedly connected to the base Γ. The tab 18' for tearing open the window 9' is formed by a part of the inner side wall 26' which is angled downwards from the top 2' and rests against the inside of the outer side wall 6' which is angled upwards from the base Γ. This tab 18' is separated from the remaining parts of this side wall 26' that remain below the corner stiffeners by cuts 27, which can also be designed as perforation cuts.

In order to be able to grasp the inner tab 18', the outer side wall 6', which is angled upwards from the floor Γ, is
