The recommended genre is fantasy. Optionally, it can be played in any genre. The approach of using Ikea and associated are is like Lego for building the physical part of an adventure. For example, dungeon rooms can be even fancy furnitured and areas can include animals and monsters (and riddles and traps too). Adapt the following Ikea setup for the chosen genre and type of playing:

+ For the board game version of this game, use appropriately large floor plans of made rooms and areas to put together the map of the whole space. Use miniatures, figures (meeples) of characters and tokens of effects of skills with effects against targets and areas, which would need threads for their borders.

+ For the TTRPG version of this game, use https://VolitionRPG.com.

+ For a LARP version of this game, dress appropriately to the chosen genre.

+ Easy examples of adaptations of Ikea stuff into various genres, usable as guidelines:

Fantasy genre and sny (sub)genre containing fantasy: Cutlery of the price in the top of the third time's the charm of price groups is considered as silver, advantageous against shapeshifters and beings with weaknesses associated with silver. The third time's the charm of price groups of cutlery and drinks are considered also holy, advantageous against all unholy creatures. To count the third time's the charm of price groups, it's enough to just subtract the cheapest price from the most expensive price type and divide the result by 3.

Genres of real life including real history and fantasy, especially historical fantasy: Feel free to acknowledge a kitchen as an armory according to the most modern Ninjutsu!😊

Genres of gritty sci-fi, gritty fantasy and dark fantasy: All artificial animals including plushies in Ikea are alive and in their full sizes. This is useful for any genre. Feel free to mutate them, because inside Ikea is a rad environment. 😉

Special subgenre of real life including a fantasy twist: This game was playtested in form of a LARP in one warehouse (of various tools) which belongs to one of my companies. There are tiles 1 m X 1 m on the ground, which is ideal for a classic dungeon. We used color chalks (the ground version) to draw symbols of features of tiles which were defined that way. We were playing in the subgenre of real life including a fantasy twist so we were dressed as IRL, but we were roleplaying fantasy characters transported to the warehouse and trying to get out (through traps, monsters, NPCs, etc.). For your imagination of how funny it was, see at least “The Gamers: Humans & Households – Episode 1“:
